It was a cool and wet day in southern Alberta to open up the 2nd Annual PBA Tournament. The Jets found themselves down 1-0 after the first inning before scoring 7 in the 2nd and 8 in the 3rd to cruise to a 19-1 victory over the Parkland Twins.
Garrett Hawkings started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 0 BB’s and 9 K’s to earn the Booster Juice Player of the Game Award. Offensively, the Jets managed 14 spread out over 7 players. Dayton Peters was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Ty Penner was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Owen Harms was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Cooper Jones was 3 for 5 with a double and 5 RBI’s. Brett Mercier was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Jared Binsfeld was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Kaiden Cardoso was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI’s to round out the offence.
The Jets now play the Saskatoon Cubs Friday at 12 noon at Spitz Stadium.
