Good day in front of some scouts!

Lethbridge, AB –

The VAB Jets had a productive day in front of a few MLB scouts and a very deep and talented PBA squad.  The Jets lost both games of the DH facing 8 legitimate college arms.

Game 1 saw the Jets lose by a score of 7-4.   Ben Onyshko started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Nelson Quark threw the final 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 earned run,  with 2 K’s and 1 BB.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Chris Thibideau, Jager Toffan, Jose Calderon and Nolan Rattai pitching in with 1 hit each.

Game 2 saw the Jets lose 13-5 although the game seemed closer.  Brandon Radmacher started on the mound going 2 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 earned runs, with 5 K’s and 5 BB’s.  Jesse Borden threw 2 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 earned runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Nolan Rattai threw 1/3 of an inning allowing 2 unearned runs with 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Justin Clarkson finished things off going 1 inning with 1 hit, 2 unearned runs and 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jet were led by Justin Clarkson who was 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 3, Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.   Brayden Resch and Chris Thibideau also contributed with 1 hit each.

The Jets continue with 15 of 16 games in a row against college programs next weekend with a home/home with PBA.

Jets open weekend at PBA with a split!

Lethbridge, AB –

The Jets opened up a weekend in Lethbridge with a split.  The Jets won the 1st game vs PBA by a score of 8-6 and lost game 2 vs U of C by a score of 10-7.

Luc Hebert started on the mound throwing very well going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Ben Kennedy went 1 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits, 6 runs, 2 BB’s with 2 K’s.  Nolan Rattai earned the save throwing 2/3 inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Chris Thibideau was 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 4 and Trey Grant was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Game 2 saw Nick Stobbe started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 earned runs with 1 BB and 1 K.  Nathan Haroldson threw 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 BB and 1 K.  Patrick Machibroda threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 3 runs with 3 BB’s.    Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 4.  Nolan Rattai was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with a double.

Next action is Sunday in Lethbridge vs PBA at 12 noon DH.

Jets having a tough time finishing off games!

Calgary, AB –

The VAB Jets played some very good baseball at times against a more experienced college team from the U of Calgary over the weekend despite dropping 3 games in the final inning.  On Sunday Brandon Radmacher started and was dominate going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 11 K’s.  Ben Kennedy threw 2 solid innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs with 2 BB and 2 K’s.  Patrick Machibroda threw 1 inning allowing 4 hits, 4 runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Nolan Rattai ended up taking the loss allowing 1 run, 1 hit and a BB.

Offensively, several Jets had very solid games.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 5 with a BB.  Jose Calderon was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 3 for 4 with a triple.  Mike Holmes was 3 for 3 with a run scored.  Jager Toffan rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored.

Next action is in Lethbridge next weekend against the PBA and U of C.  The Jets continue with 15 of their next 16 games vs college programs.

Jets 6th inning woes cost them 2 games vs U of C!

Calgary, AB –

The VAB ended up losing 2 game vs U of C by scores of 6-5 and 12-11.  Game 1 Ben Onyshko started going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 1 K.  Nic Stobbe threw 1 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 5 unearned runs 1 BB.  Jeese Borden closed things out going 1/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Jager Toffan was 1for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Brayden Resch was2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s to round out a good offensive day.

Jets split but take series!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets found themselves behind 7-3 after 6 innings despite only allowing 1 hit.  The Jets walked 7 batters, hit 2 and made 4 errors in the first 6 innings.  Brandon Radmacher started on the mound going 3 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 5 unearned runs, 3 BB’s with 6 K’s.  Nelson Quark threw2 innings allowing 2 unearned runs with 3 BB’s and 5 K’s.  Nic Stobbe threw 1 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run and 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 1 for 3.  Nolan Bumstead who was 1 for 4 with an RBI double.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s.  Jose Calderon and Treyton Grant pitched in with a hit a piece.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out strong.  JP Stevenson was dominant in his first start as a Jet going 4 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs with 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Ben Kennedy threw 1 inning, 3 unearned runs with 4 BB’s and 1 K.  Luc Hebert threw the final 2 innings allowing 0 hit, 0 runs with 4 K’s.  Offensively, several Jets had big games.  Chris Thibideau was 3 for 5 with a double and 2  RBI’s.  Justin Clarkson was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 4with a 2 run RBI.  Joel Mazurkewich was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Brayden Resch was 1 f0r 1 with an RBI.

Next action for the Jets is Saturday at University of Calgary 11 am DH.

Jets pound out 18 hits on the way to a 15-2 victory!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets got into the win column with a 15-2 victory over the Edmonton Prospects Academy.  Ben Onyshko started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 0 hits, 1 BB with 10 K’s to earn the victory.  Nathan Haroldson threw 2 solid innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Patrick Machibroda finished things off going 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 5 BB’s and 3 K’s.

The Jets offence was very well spread out.  Chris Thibideau was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 5 with a double.  Nolan Bumstead was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 3 for 5.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 5 with a  double and 2 RBI’s.  Jose Calderon was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.  Joel Mazurkewich was 1 for 3.  Mike Holmes was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 3 for 3 and Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a 3 run HR.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 1-1 in the fall.  Next action is tomorrow vs Prospects Academy beginning at 10 am (DH).

Jets open the season with a tough lose to a good PBA squad!

Vauxhall, AB –

The 2012/2013 VAB Jets opened their season against a very good college program – Prairie Baseball Academy.  The Dawgs came out on top by a score of 5-1.  The Dawgs built a 4-0 lead after 2 innings and never looked back.  Brandon Radmacher started on the mound going 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 BB’s with 2 K’s.  Nelson Quark made his debut going 1 inning allowing 2 BB’s with 2 K’s.  JP Stevenson was solid in his debut going 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 2 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Nick Stobbe was efficient in the 6th throwing a perfect inning and Ben Onyshko made his debut with a dominate inning in the 7th with 2 K’s.

The Jets were unable to muster much offence producing only 2 hits.  Both hits came on the bats of 2 newcomers.  Joel Mazurkewich and Nolan Rattai collected the hits while Anthony McKinley scored the lone run and pitched in with a stolen base.

Next action for the Jets is Saturday at Jets Stadium vs St. Albert Prospects.  Game time is set for 3 pm.

Jets come out on top in the TCMM Memorial Game 11-5 over the Bulls!

Lethbridge, AB – 

Spitz Stadium was filled with emotion, tears, excitement and energy for the 1st Annual Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean Memorial baseball game between the VAB and Lethbridge Bulls.  The Craswell family, MacLean family and the lone survivor of the tragedy Shayna Conway were in attendance to Remember the boys!   The Jets also dressed and played several alumni that played with Tanner in Vauxhall.  In total 10 alumni and 21 Jets suited up for the special occasion.

The Jets ran out several pitchers on the special night with grade 11 Brandon Radmacher getting the start and went 3 great innings.  Zach Mayo and Tanner Spencer threw 1 solid inning each in the 4th and 5th.  Alumni Brody McDonald threw 2 solid innings in the 6th and 7th.  Luke Whelpton threw a great 8th and Jets Alumni Brandon closed things out.  The Jets committed 4 errors in the 5th inning that cost the Jets 4 unearned runs was the only blemish on the night.

The Jets pounded out 19 hits on route to the 11-5 victory.  Jager Toffan had a huge night with 3 hits including a big 3 run blast.  Chris Thibideau chipped in with 3 hits as well and flashed great defence.  Anthony McKinley, Guillaume Gingras, Konner Lutz, Mitch McGeein all had hits for the current Jets.  The alumni had very productive night with Tyson Ford leading the game with a single,  Luke Berry stroking a double, Dale Anderson hitting a solo shot and  Adam Nelubowich crushing a double.  A special thank you to best friend of Tanner Craswell – Jordan Duffy who started at 2nd base.  Alumni Jordan Wong caught in the bullpen and Tyler Vavra who brought the crowd to their feet with a pinch hit appearance.

Greg Vavra “Raimont Energy” and Shell Canada were title sponsors of the event with the initial count of over $14,000.00 profit going into the TCMM Memorial Fund.

Keith Craswell was a guest coach with the Jets and was the honorary Head Coach at the home-plate meeting.

Several Lethbridge Little Leaguers were part of the Jets for batting practice and the pre-game festivities.

The victory ends the Jets season with a record of 27 wins – 12 losses – 1 tie.

Jets squeeze one out against Okotoks to improve to 2-0

Great Falls, Montana –

The VAB Jets made the most out of their 2-0 1st inning lead to hold on for a 2-1 victory over the Okotoks Dawgs to improve to 2-0 at the GF Chargers tournament.  Zach Mayo ended up going the distance allowing 6 hits, 1 run with 4 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets only managed to get 3 hits.  Chris Thibideau was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 4 with a run scored.  Konner Lutz pitched in with an RBI.  Dan Moro rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 24-11-1 overall and 2-0 in the tournament.  Next action is tomorrow at 9 am and 7 pm.  Weather permitting.

Jets open up GF tournament with 3-1 victory!

Great Falls, Montana –

The VAB Jets opened the Great Falls Tournament with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Cardinals.   Brandon Radmacher started on the mound and went the distance allowing 5 hits, 1 run,  4 BB’s with  5 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jager Toffan who was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Chris Thibideau was 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.  Matt Benn was 1 for 3 with a double.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 3 and Dan Moro was 1 for 2 with a run scored.

The victory puts the Jets record at 23-11-1 overall.  Next action is tomorrow vs Okotoks at 10:30am.
