The VAB Jets had a good day to open up the 2018 Best of the West. Game 1 saw the Jets beat the White Rock Tritons by a score of 4-0. Garrett Hawkins started on the mound throwing very well and going the distance 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 BB and 11 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Cooper Jones was 1 for 3 with a double with an RBI. Kaiden Cardoso was 1 for 3. Ty Penner was 2 for 3 with a double. Shayne Campbell was 1 for 2 and Josh Malainey rounded out the offense going 1 for 2 with a double.
Game 2 saw the Jets match up with a good Langley Blaze club. The game was tied into the top 5 with the Jets scored 7 runs and eventually winning by a score of 10-2. Jaden Griffen started on the mound and was outstanding going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 8 K’s. Jared Arnold threw the final inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run with 2 BB’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 5 with an RBI. Cooper Jones was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 3. Kaiden Cardoso was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Ty Penner was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Owen Harms was 1 for 3. Levi Abbott was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Josh Malainey rounded out the offense going 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Jets now match up with the North Shore Twins at 2 pm at Norbrock Stadium.
