Okotoks, AB –
The VAB Jets dropped a couple of ball games on a cool and rainy day in Okotoks. 5-1 and 6-3 were the final scores. The scores were a result of some untimely errors, to many walks and not enough offense coupled with a good Okotoks club.
Game 1 saw Ben Erwin get the start going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs with 4 K’s and 4 BB’s. Garrett Nicholson threw 2 innings in relief allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB. Offensively, the Jets only mustered 1 hit from Cooper Jones who was 1 for 3.
Game 2 saw Jaden Griffen start on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs with 7 K’s and 3 BB’s. Adam Macko finished things off going 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs with 4 K’s and 3 BB’s.
Offensively, the Jets were led by Jared Binsfeld who was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Liam Vulcano was 1 for 4 with an RBI. Kaiden Cardoso was 1 for 3. Ben Erwin was 2 for 3 to round out the offense.
Next action for the Jets is Thursday vs Abbotsford Cardinals – 3 pm start at Jets Stadium.
