Jets finish off Dawgs & A’s for a repeat championship!

Okotoks, AB – 

The semi final was a good game on both sides.  The Jets took an early lead and held on behind some solid pitching and timely hitting.

Luc Hebert started on the mound earning the victory going 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs with 1 BB and 8 K’s.  Jesse Borden got the save going 2 innings allowing 1 hit.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch and Jose Calderon chipped in with 1 hit each.

The championship saw the Jets go up on Okanagan A’s early and never looked back.  JP Stevenson threw a complete game on the mound allowing 6 hits, 2 runs with 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 3.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a double.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 3 with a double.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 4 with a double.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Mike Holmes was 1 for 2 and Treyton Grant was 1 for 1 with an RBI.

Tournament MVP and top hitter award went to Justin Clarkson.  Nice job all around fellas!

Next action is the 7th annual Haven Agencies Tournament starting Thursday night when the Jets take on the Lethbridge Elks 7 pm.

Jets win a tight one over Great Falls to advance to semi!

It was an error filled game by both sides  with the Jets coming out on top over Great Falls 5-4.  Brandon Radmacher started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 unearned runs with 2 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Ben Onyshko closed things out going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs with 3 BB’s earned a save.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 4 with a double.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 4 with a double.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 3.  Brett Harrson was 1 for 3 with an RBI to round out the offense.

The Jets will now play the Okotoks Dawgs at 11:30 am in the semi-final.

Jet lose a tight one to Team SK!

Okotoks, AB –

The VAB Jets did not come ready to play and fell behind early and then blew a late lead fall 8-7 to Team SK.  Nick Stobbe started on the mound going 6 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Pat Machibroda took the loss going 2/3 inning allowing 4 hits, 5 runs and 2 BB’s.  Nolan Rattai got the final out allowing 1 hit with a K.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 1 with 2 BB’s and a 3 run HR.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 4 with a double.  Brett Harrison was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Mike Holmes had a good day going 2 for 4.

The Jets finished the round robin as the #1 seed in the Reitsma division and will play tonight at 5 pm in the quarter final vs TBD.

Jets open Okotoks tournament with 2 victories!

Okotoks, AB –

The Jets found themselves in a tight game to begin the tournament with Abbotsford, AB.  The game was tied 1-1 after 5 and the Jets exploded with 5 runs in the top of the 6th winning 6-2.

Nelson Quark started on the mound going 6 innings allowing 8 hits, 2 runs, with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s for the victory.  JP Stevenson threw the final inning allowing 1 hit and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 4.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Nolan Rattai was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Brett Harrison rounded out the offense going 1 for 2 with a double.

Game 2 saw the Jets beat Sherwood Park by a score of 7-2.  On the mound Nathan Haroldson earned the victory going 6 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 2 runs with 2 BB’s.  Patrick Machibroda finished things off with 1/3 of an inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 5.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 5.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and a double.  Treyton Grant was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Brett Harrison rounded out the offense going 1 for 2.

The Jets next play Team SK at 9 am tomorrow to finish off the round robin.

Jets finish off graduation weekend in a big way!

Vauxhall, AB – 

The Jets came out strong in game 1 Great Falls Chargers by a score of 12-1.  Luc Hebert started on the mound earning the win going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run with 4 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Brandon Radmacher finished things off going 1 inning allowing 1 hit with 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau going 2 for 5 with a HR and 2 RBI’s.  Joel Mazurkewich was 1 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 2 with a double.  Anthony McKinely was 2 for 3 with a HR and 2 RBI’s.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 4.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI’s.  Nolan Rattai rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

Jets take took from Badlands on grad weekend!

The VAB Jets took a little while to get going on a tough LHP from Oyen in game 1.  The score was 3-3 in the 5th until the Jets scored 2 in the 5th and 6th to win 7-3.  Nelson Quark started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 3 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Nathan Haroldson earned the victory in relief going 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 4.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 4 with a double.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 3 with a 2 run HR.  Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 1 with an RBI.  Treyton Grant rounded out the offense going 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Jets pull out a late game victory over Medicine Hat!

Vauxhall, AB – 

A well pitched and defensive game was blown open in the 8th inning by the Jets to pull out a 7-1 victory.  The Monarchs led from the 4th inning on 1-0 until a few BB’s and clutch hitting broke the game open.

Nelson Quark started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hit, 1 unearned run with 6 Ks and 0 BB’s.  Pat Machibroda had his best outing of the season going 2 innings allowing 2 hits with 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Luc Hebert finished things off with the victory going 2 innings allowing 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 4 with 1 run scored.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Nolan Bumstead led the way going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 13-4-2 overall.  Next action is VHS Graduation weekend vs Badlands Academy at 12 noon (DH) on Saturday and 12 noon (DH) vs Great Falls Chargers on Sunday.

Jets salvage a split in Great Falls!

Great Falls, Montana – 

The VAB managed to salvage a split in Great Falls, Montana winning game 2 over Missoula 13-8 after dropping the opener 4-3 to Great Falls.

Game 1 saw Ben Onyshko start on the mound earning the no-decision going 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Jesse Borden took the loss throwing 2 good innings allowing 3 hit, 2 run with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jose Calderon who was 2 for 5.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 4.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a solo HR.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 1 with 3 BB’.s  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Brayden Resch rounded out the offense going 2 for 3.

Game 2 saw the Jets going down 8-3 after 6 innings before putting up 10 runs in the top of the 7th to earn the victory over the Missoula Mavericks.  Brandon Radmacher started and went 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs with 3 BB’s and 2 K’s.  JP Stevenson threw 3 innings of relief allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs with 3 K’s and 1 BB.  Nick Stobbe earned the victory in one of his best outings as a Jet going 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Nolan Rattai was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Treyton Grant was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and Brett Harrison rounded out the offense going 2 for 2.

The Jets will now play at home tomorrow vs Medicine Hat Monarchs at 1pm.
