Jets lose 10-8 to PBA!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets got down early 7-1 and could not come back – losing 10-8 to the PBA.  Zach Mayo started and took the loss going 3 inning allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 5 BB’s and 5 K’s.  Konner Lutz threw in relief going 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs with 1 K and 2 BB’s.  Ben Dartnell threw a solid inning allowing 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Archie Davis went 2/3 of an inning allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, with 1 K and 1 BB.  Mark Baigent threw well in the final 1 1/3 inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 K’s and 1 BB. 

Offensively the Jets were led by Jeremie Fagnan who was 1 for 4 with a HR, 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Tyler Kendall was 1 for 5 with a double and run scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 2.  Greg Adams was 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 5 with a solo HR.  Travis Wallace and Mitch McGeein both had 1 hit a piece.

The loss pushes the Jets record to 5 – 2 overall.

Jets lose a tight one to PBA!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets lost a tight one to the PBA by a score of 5-4.  Chad Hodges started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 4 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Anthony McKinley threw a very solid inning allowing 0 hit, 0 runs and 0 BB’s.  Blair Balog allowed 4 runs and only 3 earned runs on 1 BB and 2 hits despite fighting the flu.  Marc St. Jean threw 2 solid innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 2 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Logan Seifrit threw the final inning with 2 K’s and 1 BB. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Jeremie Fagnan who was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a run scored.  Tyler Kendal was 1 for 4.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Tyson Zarowny rounded out the offense going 1 for 3. 

The loss puts the Jets record at 5 wins and 1 loss.  Next action is Friday night at 7 pm vs Team SK.

Jets finish off the sweep in Montana!

Belgrade, Montana –

The VAB Jets finished off a very successful first road trip with a 5-3 victory over the Big Sky Seniors.  Konner Lutz started on the mound and was outstanding going 6 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, 5 K’s, and 1 BB.  Mark Baigent went 1 solid inning allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB’s and 0 K’s.  Ben Dartnell earned the save going 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 5 K’s and 2 BB’s. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Marc St. Jean was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Tyler Kendal was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.  Greg Adams was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Archie Davis rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with an RBI.   Jeremie Fagnan also chipped in with 2 stolen bases. 

The sweep pushes the Jets record to 5-0 overall.  Next action is Wednesday versus the Prairie Baseball Academy in Vauxhall at Jets Stadium – 6 pm start time.

Jets continue to roll with 2 more victories!

Belgrade, Montana –

The Jets continue their winning ways with a 5-2 and 7-5 victory over the Big Sky Seniors.  Game 1 saw Zach Mayo make his Jets debut going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, 5 K’s with 7 BB’s.  Archie Davis threw well in relief earning the victory going 2 innings allowing 0 hit, 0 runs and 2 K’s.  Chad Hodges earned the save throwing the final inning clean. 

Offensively, the Jets faced a very tough RHP and were down 2-0 after 5 innings.  Jeremy Fagnan was 1 for 3 with a double.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored.  Greg Adams was 1 for 3 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 3 with a double and run scored.  Konner Lutz was 2 for 4.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2 with a run scored and RBI.  Marc St. Jean was 1 for 2 and Tyson Zarowny was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. 

Game 2 saw Greg Adams started and earned the victory going 3 innings allowing 5 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs, 2 K’s and 1 BB.  Brendan Hendriks threw the next 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Marc St. Jean earned the save with 2 K’s and 0’s across the board.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s.  Jeremy Fagnan was 1 for 2 with a triple, RBI and run scored.  Greg Adams was 2 for 4 with a triple and run scored.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a run scored.  Tyler Kendal was 1 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.  Konner Lutz was 2 for 3 with a double and run scored.  Marc St. Jean rounded out the offense and had a great game going 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored. 

The 2 victories pushes the Jets record to 4-0 overall and next action is Sunday vs Big Sky Seniors at 10 am (9 inning game).

Jets open Montana road trip with a convincing victory!

Belgrade, Montana –

The VAB began their road trip to Belgrade, Montana with a 10-3 victory over the Big Sky Seniors (Grade 12 all star team from Montana/South Dakota).  Blair Balog started on the mound and earned the victory throwing 4 very solid innings allowing 5 hits, 3 run but all were unearned, 3 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Travis Wallace earned the save in relief throwing 3 innings allowing 0 hits and 0 runs. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Brendan Hendriks who was 2 for 4 with a triple, 3 RBI’s and a run scored.  Greg Adams was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI’s and a run scored.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 3 with a triple, 2 RBI’s and a run scored.  Tyson Zarowny rounded out the offense who was 2 for 4 with an RBI. 

Next action for the Jets is tomorrow against the same Big Sky Seniors with a 1pm (DH) slated.  The Jets are without 3 Junior pitchers – Seifrit, McKinley and Spencer who are all attending the Mizuno Camp in Toronto.

Jets open the fall season with a victory!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets opened the 2010/2011 season with a 3-2 victory over the PBA Dawgs.  It was beginning of Spirit Week at VHS and VES so a sell-out crowd made a very good high school baseball atmosphere.  The high school rock band also played for the crowd between innings.

Chad Hodges started on the mound going 4 innings earning the victory allowing 1 hit, 0 run, 4 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Anthony McKinley threw a solid 5th inning allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 2 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Archie Davis threw a good 6th inning allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 K and 0 BB’s.  Ben Dartnell earned the save going 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 0 runs with 1 K and 1 BB.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Jeremie Fagnon who was 1 for 4 with a double and run scored.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2 with a solo HR.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Konner Lutz was 1 for 1 with a double.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 2.  Mark St. Jean was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Tyson Zarowny was 2 for 3 to round out a well balanced offense.

The victory starts the Jets off with a 1-0 record this fall and next action is Friday night in Belgrade, Montana vs Big Sky Seniors.

Good luck to the 3 Mizuno Camp Invitees.  Seifrit, McKinley and Spencer will be attending the Mizuno Camp in Toronto at the Rogers Centre.

4 – 2010/2011 Jets Invited to Team Canada!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Vauxhall Academy is proud to announce that 4 Jets have been selected to tryout for the Canadian National Junior Program.  24 selections were announced by Head Coach – Greg Hamilton at the Baseball Canada Cup in Kinderley, SK.  The 4 selections now makes an amazing 18 Jets being selected to tryout for Team Canada in the past 5 years.

A special congrats also goes out to Team Alberta on a 3rd place finish.  Team Alberta lost a tight one in the semi-final vs Ontario but went onto shutout Quebec in the Bronze Medal game.

1 more former VAB Jets has committed to attend NCAA Division 1 baseball program this coming fall.  Daniel Worb (2007-2009) – Winnipeg, Manitoba has signed a National Letter of Intent for the fall.  The Jets have had 8 Jets receive NCAA Division 1 Scholarships in the last 2 years.

4 Former VAB Jets have committed to attend NCAA Division 1 baseball programs on scholarship this coming fall.  Dale Anderson (2006/2007 – 2007/2008), Brendan Miller (2006/2007), Alex Tufts (2006/2007) and Lionel Morrill (2006/2007 – 2007/2008) have all signed National Letter of Intents for the fall.
