2 pitching duels ends in a Jets split!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Vauxhall Academy has a tough day offensively but had a great day on the mound earning a split with the Edmonton Prospects.  Game 1 saw the Prospects no hit the Jets by a score of 1-0.  The Jets only allowed 1 hit as well with Levi Westerlund taking the tough loss going 6 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 3 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Ben Douglas threw the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 BB’s and 1 K. 

Game 2 saw the Jets win a tight one by a score of 3-2.  Derek Grubel started on the mound going 3 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run, 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Taylor Simmonds earned the victory in relief going 3 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who had the game winning single to score 2 runs.  Ben Douglas, Levi Westerlund, and Curtis Mazurkewich all had 1 hit each. 

The split pushes the Jets record to 8 win – 2 losses.  Next action is next Saturday vs Team SK with a 1 pm (DH) at Jets Stadium.

Jets start the weekend off with 2 victories.

The Jets won both games vs the Edmonton Prospects by scores of 14-6 and 2-1.  Game 1 saw Paul Schaak start on the mound and get the win going 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs, 5 BB’s, and 3 K’s.  Blair Balog earned the save going 3 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 earned run, 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Brandt Hittel who was 2 for 4 with a grand slam, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI’s.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 5 with a double and 1 run scored.   Brody McDonald was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI’s.  Ben Dartnell was also 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI’s. 

Game 2 was a pitchers duel.  Justin Davies started on the mound and earned the victory going 4 2/3 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 4 BB’s and 5 K’s.  Brody McDonald earned the save going 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Brendan Hendriks who was 2 for 3.  Marc St. Jean, Ben Douglas, Kym Barthel and Luke Barry all added 1 hit each. 

The 2 wins pushes the Jets record to 7 wins – 1 loss.  Next action is tomorrow against the Edmonton Prospects at 11 am (DH).

PBA humbles the Jets!

The Jets were humbled tonight in Vauxhall against a very good Prairie Baseball Academy club (Junior College team).  Taylor Simmonds started on the mound going 2 innings allowing 11 hits, 12 earned runs, 1 BB, with 2 K’s.  Brendan Hendriks threw the next 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Brody McDonald finished things off going 1 inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Brandt Hittel who was 2 for 2.  Matt Clark was also 1 for 1. 

The losses pushes the Jets record to 5 wins – 1 loss.  Next action is Saturday in Vauxhall vs Prospects Academy at 3 pm (DH).

Jets finish off the road trip with 2 more wins!

Bozeman, Montana –

The VAB finished off a successful 1st road trip with 2 more victories by scores of 5-1 and 5-3.  Game 1 saw Justin Davies get the start on the mound and earned the victory on the mound going 5 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 K’s, and 1 BB.  Ben Douglas threw the final 2 innings allowing 1 run, 0 earned runs, 1 BB, 1 hit and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Luke Barry who was 1 for 1 with 3 BB’s and 2 runs scored.  Greg Adams was 1 for 4 with a double, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Levi Westerlund was 1 for 2 with 2 BB’s and Brody McDonald rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.

Jets take 2 more from Big Sky!

Bozeman, Montana –

The Jets took 2 more from Big Sky Baseball in Montana.  Game 1 saw the Jets win by a score of 12-0 behind a strong performance by Levi Westerlund who went 7 innings allowing 0 runs, 3 hits, 5 K’s with 1 BB.    Offensively, the Jets were led by Luke Barry who was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Kym Barthel was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI, 4 runs scored, with 1 double.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s, 1 run scored and 1 BB.  Brendan Hendriks was 4 for 4 with 1 RBI, 1 run scored and 1 BB.  Curtis Mazerkuwich was also 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI.  Chad Hodges rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored 2 RBI’s and 1 BB.

Jets win their fall opener in Montana!

Bozeman, Montana –

The VAB opened their fall campaign with a solid 8-0 victory over the Big Sky Seniors Friday night.  Big Sky is a grade 12 all-star team from the state of Montana.  Taylor Simmonds started on the mound to earn the victory going 5 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 5 K’s with 2 BB’s.   Brendan Hendriks threw the final 2 innings of relief allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 K’s and 1 BB. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Ben Douglas who was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, 2 double and 1 BB.  Cody Lenchuka was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 1 SB.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with a double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 SB.  Levi Westerlund, Matt Clark, Ben Dartnell and Greg Adams all had 1 hit each.

The Jets play again tomorrow against the same Big Sky Seniors at 12 noon (DH).
