Jets add a loss and tie in Washington!

Pullman, WA –

The Jets blew a late lead in the bottom of the 7th inning at WSU Saturday morning against Baseball Northwest Senior Allstars.  The Jets made 3 errors in the 7th to lose 7-6.  Taylor Simmonds started on the mound going 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 BB’s, with 4 K’s.  Marc St. Jean took the loss going 2/3 inning allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 unearned to take the loss.   Offensively, the Jets were led Kym Barthel who was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Blair Balog was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Marc St. Jean, Ben Dartnell and Derek Grubel all chipped in with 1 hit each. 

Game 2 saw the Jets again blow a 1 run lead in the 7th to finish the game with a tie 1-1.  Victor Caruso started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 BB.  Justin Davies threw in relief going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run, 4 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chad Hodges who was 1 for 3 with an RBI double.  Blair Balog was 1 for 1 with 2 BB’s.  Kym Barthel, Ben Douglas, Shane Zimmer, Greg Adams and Brody McDonald all chipped in with 1 hit each. 

The Jets record is now 12 wins – 7 losses – 1 tie.  Next action is tomorrow at WSU – Bailey Brayton Field against Baseball Northwest at 10 am (DH).

Jets lose snow shortened game at PBA!

Lethbridge, AB –

The Jets lost a tight game by a score of 3-1 to the Prairie Baseball Academy.  The game was called after 5 1/2 innings due to snow.  On the mound Paul Schaak started and went 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 earned run, 5 K’s and 1 BB.  Derek Grubel threw the next 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Curtis Mazurkewich who was 1 for 1.  The Jets only mustered 1 hit while only allowing 4 hits in the pitchers duel. 

The loss pushes the Jets record to 12 wins – 6 losses.  Next action is at Washington State University on Saturday at 9 am (DH).  The players will have a chance to visit with former Jet and Seattle Mariner draft pick Adam Nelubowich who is playing the corner infield at WSU.  The Jets will also take in the Homecoming football game on Saturday as the Cougars take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

2 Jets headed to Florida with Team Canada!

2 current VAB Jets have been invited and currently in Orlando, Florida to tryout for the Canadian Junior National Team October 5th – 15th, 2009.  RHP – Levi Westerlund (Oyen, AB) and OF – Matt Clark (Woodstock, NB) will be the 10th and 11th Jets to tryout for Team Canada in the past 4 years.  To follow Clark and Westerlunds Team Canada journey go to www.baseball.ca.

Jets split on a very cold fall day!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets split with St. Fx winning game 1 by a score of 14-1 and lost game 2 by a score of 6-4.  Justin Davies got the start in game 1 going 5 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 BB, 1 run with 13 K’s.  Victor Caruso threw 1 2/3 innings with 4 K’s, 1 BB and 1 hit.  Brendan Hendriks threw the final 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, with 4 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Greg Adams who was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI, 4 runs scored and 3 BB’s.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s, and 2 runs scored.  Matt Clark was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.  Ben Dartnell was 2 for 2 with a double, triple and 4 RBI’s.

The split pushes the Jets record to 12 wins and 5 losses.  Next action is Wednesday vs PBA at 4 pm at Lloyd Nolan Yard.

Jets lose in extra innings to PBA!

The VAB Jets lost a tight game to PBA by a score of 8-6 in extra innings.  Levi Westerlund started and went 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 8 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Blair Balog took the loss going 3 innings allowing 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 BB’s with 5 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Ben Douglas who was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Matt Clark was 2 for 4 with a SB.  Brody McDonald was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Cody Lencucha was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The loss pushes the Jets record to 9 wins – 4 losses.  Next action is Saturday at 1 pm (DH)

Sunday’s games are cancelled there will just be the 1 pm (DH) on Saturday vs St. Fx Academy.

Jets finish off the weekend with a sweep!

The Jets came out with 2 large victories over Team SK on Sunday morning.  Game 1 saw the Jets come out on top by a score of 11-0.  Taylor Simmonds was outstanding on the mound throwing a no-hitter.  He threw 5 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 K’s with 5 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Greg Adams who was 1 for 4 with a double.  Brandt Hittel was 2 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI’s and a run scored.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.  Chad Hodges was 1 for 4 with a double and RBI.  Derek Grubel was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored.  Levi Westerlund was 1 for 1 with a double and run scored.  Cody Lenchuka was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 14-2.  Derek Grubel threw 3 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 7 K’s and 4 BB’s.  Ben Douglas threw the final 1 1/3 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 K’s with 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 3 for 4 with a SB and a run scored.  Greg Adams was 1 dor 4 with a double.  Brendan Hendriks was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 run HR.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 runs score.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Ben Dartnel was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.  Marc St. Jean was 1 for 1 with an RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 BB’s.  Cody Lenchuka was 1 for 1 with a double.

The 2 wins puts the Jets fall record to 11 -3.  Next action is Wednesday at 6 pm vs PBA.

Jets split on Steven Inch homecoming!

The Jets split with Team SK today with a loss in game 1 by a score of 6-3 and a win by a score of 11-0.  Paul Schaak started and ended with a no-decision going 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB’s and 9 K’s.  Levi Westerlund took the loss going the final 2 innings allowing 3 unearned runs, 2 BB’s, 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Ben Douglas who was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI, and 1 run scored.  Greg Adams, Brody McDonald and Brendan Hendriks each chipped in with 1 hit each. 

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on top by a score of 11-0.  On the mound Justin Davies started and went 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Victor Caruso threw the final inning scoreless.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 1 for 4 with a SB.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.  Shane Zimmer was 1 for 2 with an RBI and 1 run scored.  Ben Douglas had a huge game going 3 for 3 with 2 HR’s, 6 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 1 with a double and 2 BB’s.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 3 with a dobule and 1 RBI.  Cody Lenchuka was 1 for 2 with a BB and 1 RBI.  Marc St. Jean was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored.
