Jets split vs PBA on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Jets!

Vauxhall, AB – 

The VAB Jets split with the PBA losing by a score of 10-6 in game 1 and winning 6-2 in game 2 for the split.

Garrett Hawkins started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Thomas Little went 2 innings having tough luck allowing 5 hits, 9 runs, 0 earned run with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Cooper Jones finished things off going 1 inning allowing 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Owen Harms who was 1 for 1 with a solo HR and 3 BB’s.  John Vulcano was 2 for 4 with a double.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 4 with a double.  Ty Penner was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Dayton Peters was 3 for 3 with 3 doubles and an RBI.  Shayne Campbell also pitched in with a couple of RBI’s.

Game 2 Jaden Griffin started on mound going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 run with 7 K’s.  Adam Macko finished things off throwing 3 innings with 0 hits, 2 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Cooper Jones who was 1 for 3.  Martin Vincelli Simard was 2 for 2 with a 2 run HR.  Kaiden Cardoso was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  John Vulcano was 1 for 3 and Ty Penner was 1 for 1 with a double and 2 RBI’s.

Jets start the fall with fast start!

The VAB Jets got off to a good start in 2017/2018 with a 12-4 victory over the PBA.  Garrett Hawkins started on the mound going 1 clean inning.  Thomas Little threw 1 inning allowing 2 hits and 1 run.  Adam Macko threw a clean inning with 2 K’s.  Chase Florendine threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run with 1 BB.  Reese Keller threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run and 1 BB.  Matt Wiggins threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run with 2 BB’s.  Jaden Griffin threw 1 inning allowing 2 hits with 3 K’s.  Kaiden Cardoso rounded things out on the mound throwing 1 clean inning.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Owen Harms was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Damiano Palmegiani was 2 for 5 with a 2 run HR and 3 RBI’s.  Martin Vincelli-Simard was 2 for 3.  Ty Penner was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s . John Vulcano was 3 for 3.  Cooper Jones was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Evan O’Toole was 1 for 2 and Josh Malainey was 1 for 3 to round out the 17 hit attack.

The Jets will match up again on Saturday against the PBA with a 12 noon DH scheduled.

Jets score late to win the BOW over the Okotoks Dawgs!

Kamloops, BC – 

Championship Saturday in Kamloops featured 2 semi final match ups between the Jets and the North Shore Twins as well as Okotoks Dawgs vs the Langley Blaze.  The Dawgs beat the Blaze in extra innings while the Jets beat the Twins 4-1 in the semi final.

Wesley Moore started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 4 K’s to earn the victory.  Zach Newman earned the save going 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Victor Cerny who was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Matt Rath was 2 for 3.  Brett Mercier was 1 for 2.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 and owen Harms was 1 for 3.  Damiano Palmegiani was 0 for 1 with an RBI but also 3 HBP’s.

The semi final victor earned a birth in the final vs Okotoks Dawgs.  The game was knotted at 0-0 until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Jets scored 4 runs to earn our 3rd BOW Championship (2009, 2015, 2017).  Jaden Griffin got the start going  4 1/3 solid innings allowing 0 hits, 5 BB’s with 3 K’s.  Griffin developed a blister when Hawkins entered the game with a 2-1 count and runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out.  Hawkins entered the game striking out 2 batters to finish off the inning and earning the victory going 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits with 6 K’s and 0 BB’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by a pitch hit sacrifice fly by Jared Binsfeld which went on to be the winning run.  Owen Harms who was 1 for 2 with a double.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 2.  Matt Rath continued a great Championship Saturday with a 2 for 3 effort and an RBI.

The Jets finished off the 2017 BOW scoring 36 runs and allowing just 4 runs over the 5 games.  The Jets will now enjoy Easter Sunday together at the residence in Vauxhall.  Day off Monday followed by a good week of practice will lead the Jets on another road trip to Great Falls Friday and Saturday to take on the Great Falls Chargers and Missoula Mavericks.

Jets open Gorman Desert Classic with a walk off!

 

Las Vegas, NV –

The Jets met up with a good club from La Jolla HS California.  The Jets scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th before La Jolla scored 2 in the 5th.  The scored was tied 2-2 in the 7th when an error, 2 bunt base hits followed by a walk off single from Liam Vulcano to win.

Ben Erwin started going 6 innings on 68 pitches allowing 5 hits, 2 runs with 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Adam Macko got the win going 1 clean inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 4 with a walk off single.  Owen Harms was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 3.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Cooper Jones was 2 for 3 and Matt Rath was 1 for 2 to round off the offense.

The Jets now match up with Brighton HS out of Utah tomorrow at 12 noon Bishop Gorman HS.

4 Jets commitment to college baseball programs!

The Vauxhall Academy is proud to announce 4 Jets have committed to US schools on scholarship for the 2016-2017 season.  All 4 players will finish up their spring in Vauxhall and will join their respective college programs in the fall of 2017.  We are very proud of all of these young men and look forward to sharing additional college commitments soon.

LHP – Wesley Moore – Surrey, BC  – has accepted an NCAA Division 1 athletic scholarship to attend California State University Northridge in Northridge, California.  The Matadors play in a very challenging  Big West Conference.  Moore will join former Jet Nolan Bumstead who is currently in his Junior year. Jets take 2 up in Okotoks!

The Jets won a couple game in Okotoks vs the Dawgs Academy on a cool fall afternoon.  Game 1 Ben Erwin started and went 4 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 unearned runs with 2 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Zach Newman earned the victory going 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits with 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 2 for 3.  Brett Mercier was 1 for 4.  Damiano Palmegiani was 2 for 3 with double and 3 RBI’s.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 4. Jets split on a beautiful fall day in Lethbridge!

Lethbridge, AB – 

Game 1 was a low scoring affair until the 6th inning with the Jets holding onto a 1-0 lead PBA score 2 runs before the Jets responded with 8 runs in the top of the 7th to win by a score of 9-5.  Game 2 was a back and forth affair before the Jets fell to PBA 7-6.  Overall, a solid weekend especially with so many bodies away with the JNT in Florida. 5 Jets selected to Canadian JNT fall trip!

Vauxhall, AB – 

The VAB Jets are proud to announce that 5 current Jets will be making the trip to Lake Buena Vista, Florida Oct 1-13 for the U-18 Instructional League Camp.

The JNT will play several professional clubs from the Astros, Nationals, Blue Jays, Tigers and Braves.  They will also face off against former Jet Ben Onyshko (2012-2013) at Stetson University.

Good luck to all 5 in their quest to represent Canada at the WBSC U-18 World Cup in Thunder Bay, Ontario September 1-10, 2017.
