Jets win Orange Division Bishop Gorman Championship!!!

The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball Jets won the 16th annual Bishop Gorman Easter Classic in Las Vegas today.  The Jets beat Bishop Gorman 2 in the final by a score of 9-1 behind the quality pitching performance of JC Paquin – 6 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, and 5 K’s.  Austin Cooper threw a final inning of scoreless relief.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 3 for 4 with a double and HR with 2 RBI’s, Mark Clauson who was 2 for 3 with a double, and Colin Amendt who was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s. 

Overall, the Jets won the tournament with a 5-0 record and won their 3rd straight tournament dating back to last season.  Overall, in the aluminum bat tournament the Jets led the tournament in HR’s with 16 and 15 doubles while the pitching staff only walked 6 batters total.  The ball club played very well and will be travelling home for 2 days and the next games are schedule for next weekend in Vauxhall vs Team SK Selects.

Jets beat Bishop Gorman 2 and Montclair Prep to get to the finals!

Game 1 saw the Jets win by a score of 13-3.  The game was 0-0 in the 4th when the Jets exploded.  Steven Inch got the win going 6 innings allowing 6 hits, 0 runs, 2 BB’s, and 7 K’s.  Kyle Muzechka pitched the final inning in relief.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 3 for 4 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s, Tanner Craswell was 2 for 3, JC Paquin was 2 for 3 with a double, and Jean-Guy Bilodeau was 3 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI’s, Colin Amendt was 2 for 4 with a double.

Game 2 saw the Jets get down but, battle back against Montclair Prep HS out of LA.  Jamin Heller started and went 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs but none were earned and 0 K’s or BB’s.  Cole Stober got the win in relief going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run which was unearned with 1 BB and 3 K’s. 

Offensively the Jets were held silent by a very good LHP from Montclair Prep.  Mark Clauson had a good day offensively going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles.  JC Paquin was the leader though going 2 for 4 with 2 HR’s, including a WALK OFF 3 Run HR in the bottom of the 7th inning. 

The win puts the Jets in the Championship game tomorrow morning at 8 am.  The opponent is not known at this time. 

Jets win big over East HS, Utah (Salt Lake City)

The Jets had another big day both at the plate and on the mound.  The Jets beat the 1-0 East HS by a score of 18-0.  On the mound Brandon Petite started and went the distance – 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 BB and 9 K’s.  Petite was over powering and was dominate from the onset of the ballgame.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and an SB, Adam Nelubowich who was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, Tanner Craswell who was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and a double, JC Paquin who was 2 for 2 with a HR and a double with RBI’s, Mark Clauson who was 2 for 3 with 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s and Daniel Worb who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

The win puts the Jets to 2-0 in the tournament and face off with undefeated Bishop Gorman tomorrow morning at 8 am and again at 11 am against Montclair HS out of LA.

Jets pound George Washington HS, California (San Fransico)!

After having one of the worst days in Academy history on Monday today was one of the best days.  The Jets pounded out 24 runs, 18 hits, and 6 homeruns to beat George Washington HS, California out of San Fransico.  The 1st six hitters in the Jets order had homeruns.  Lionel Morrill was 4 for 5 with HR and double, Tanner Craswell was 3 for 5 with a double and HR, JC Paquin was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a HR, Mark Clauson was 2 for 2 with 3 BB’s and a HR, and Jean-Guy Bilodeau was 2 for 2 with a HR and 3 BB’s.

Austin Cooper was in complete control right from the beginning going all 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 0 BB’s and 8 K’s.  Cooper moved to 2-1 on the season. 

Tomorrow the Academy will match up with East HS, Utah out of Salt Lake City.  Friday will see the Jets meet Bishop Gorman 2 out of Las Vegas and Montclair HS, California out of LA.

Jets get swept at Sierra Vista!

The VAB Jets did not have a good day at all in Las Vegas today.  The first game saw the Jets match up with Sierra Vista’s JV team – a team in which they should have beaten no question.  Jamin Heller took the loss on the mound going 3 innings allowing 7 hits with 2 K’s and 4 earned runs.  Cole Stober went the final 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs, 5 BB’s with 2 K’s and 2 hits.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chad Northcott who was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk and Daniel Worb who was 3 for 4.

 Game 2 saw the Jets face off vs the Sierra Vista Varsity team.  Kyle Muzechka took the loss on the mound going 4 1/3 innings allowing 13 hits and all 11 runs.  Muzechka did only allowed 1 BB with 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tanner Craswell who was 2 for 2, Lionel Morrill 1 for 2 with a triple and Adam Nelubowich who was 1 for 2 with an RBI. 

THe Jets are now 3 – 6 on the season.  Next action is Wednesday in Vegas vs George Washington HS out of San Fransico.

VAB Spilts in Twin Falls, Idaho

The VAB Jets played a DH in Twin Falls, Idaho today vs TF High School.  The team travelled all night on the bus and played fairly solid games.  Game 1 saw the Jets loose by a score of 6-2.  Austin Cooper took the loss on the mound in 3 2/3 innings allowing 6 runs, 1 earned run, 7 hits, 3 K’s, 0 BB’s.  Steven Inch threw 2 1/3 solid innings of relief allowing 1 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Offensively, Mark Clauson led the way going 2 – 3 with a double and 2 run HR.  Chad Northcott was 1 – 3 with a double and Daniel Worb was 1 – 2. 

Game 2 saw the Jets break it wide open in the top of the 5th with 5 runs to win the game 10-2.  Brandon Petite got the win on the mound going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 0 earned runs, and 5 K’s.  JC Paquin got the save going 3 innings allowing no hits, no runs, no BB’s and 1 K.  Offensively it was our best game of the year with Lionel Morrill going 3 – 4 with 3 runs scored, Adam Nelubowich was 2 – 3 with 3 RBI’s and a double and Tanner Craswell was 4 – 4 with a double and an RBI.

Jets split in Lethbridge!

The VAB Jets split a pair in Lethbridge today.  Game 1 saw a late game comeback by PBA to earn the 6-5 victory.  Steven Inch started on the mound to earn the no decision going 4 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run with 4 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Kyle threw threw 2 1/3 innings of relief allowing 4 hits, 4 runs but only 2 earned, 2 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Tanner Craswell took the loss in the final 1/3 of an inning.  Offensively, Adam Nelubowich was 2 for 3 with a walk, JC Paquin was 1 for 2 with a HBP.  Collin Amendt, Josh Stephenson, Mark Clauson, Chad Northcott and Lionel Morrill also had 1 hit each.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on top with a 2-0 victory.  Brandon Petite was very solid in his start to earn the victory on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s and 6 K’s.  JC Paquin earned the save in relief going 2 innings allowing 2 hits, with 0 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, Jean-Guy Bilodeau led the way offensively going 2 for 3 with a triple and double and 2 RBI’s.  Mark Clauson was also 2 for 4.  This was most likely the most complete game the Jets have played all season. 

With the split the Jets now have 2 wins and 3 losses.  Next action is Saturday March 29th in Twin Falls, Idaho starting at 5 pm. 

Several Jet players are pretty banged up so getting healthy is a major priority this coming week.

Jets win a close one!

The VAB Jets played the PBA JV today and it turned out to be a close game in the cold conditions.  The Jets dominated the entire game except for 7 run 8th inning that allowed PBA to get on the board.  The Jets were up 9 to 0 in the 8th when PBA battled their way back into the game.  Austin Cooper was very good in his 2nd start going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with K’s and no BB’s.  Tyler Vavra threw 3 scoreless innings of relief allowing 4 hits with 3 K’s and no BB’s.  Dale Anderson recorded his first save of the season with 3 K’s in a scoreless 9th inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 3 for 4 with 4 SB’s and and 1 RBI.  Tanner Craswell was 1 for 3 with 3 SB’s and 2 RBI’s.  The turning point of the crazy 8th inning was Kyle Muzechka who came in relief with the winning run at the plate and struck out the #4 hitter for PBA on 3 pitches.  Tomorrow the Jets will return to action in Lethbridge at 1pm (DH).
