Hey is Dale and Lionel. The weather didn’t cooperate again today but we were able to find good weather for the game. We practiced in the morning but the rain made us stay in the hitting tunnels. We lost 7-4? Lionel started in right field and was 0-2 with a strikeout and groundball. I came in the game at 1st base and was 0-1 with a line out to the right fielder and a walk. Overall it was a pretty good game. A few of us went to the Magic Kingdom after the game. Alot of walking but it was fun.

Anderson and Morrill – Day 1 with Team Canada.
Hey coach its Lionel and Dale. Well today we had a practice at one, but mother nature said ball was to be cancelled today..it rained on and off all day. So we hit indoors and worked out a bit. Oh and the facilities are SWEET. Well we just hung out after,and we have to be at the park around 8 for the game…so thats about what happened in day one.

The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball board of directors and staff would like to congratulate Barbara and Yukio on their successful and admirable relationship and would like to again thank them for there tremendous support they have shown to the academy. The board, staff, and players of the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball look forward to many more years working with the Kitagawa’s and the continued relationship building they have with the community of Vauxhall.
Hoetmer, Brown, and Nunweiller finalize – All 14 seniors committing to collegiate baseball programs
Josh Hoetmer (1st baseman) and Mike Brown (1st baseman) have committed to play for Coach Kubicek at the Prairie Baseball Academy this coming fall. Both athletes are planning on attending the University of Lethbridge. Hoetmer and Brown will be joining teammates – Miller, Armstrong and Johnson at the PBA. Katlin Nunweiller (RHP) has also committed to attend Iowa Western Junior College this coming fall. Nunweiller will be joining Alex Tufts at Western.
Cody Phipps Drafted by the MLB Houston Astros!
Congrats to Vauxhall Baseball Academy outfielder Cody Phipps for being selected in the 2007 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Houston Astros in the 33rd round, 1009th overall. Cody has until August 15th, 2007 to sign a professional contract or he can go and play with the University of British Columbia.
Canadian Jr National Team: Congratulations to Anderson and Morrill
Congratulations to grade 11 Academy Players, Dale Anderson (short-stop) of Strathmore Alberta and Lionel Morrill (outfielder) of Taber Alberta on being selected to try out for the Canadian Junior National Team.
Between May 23 and June 1, both Academy athletes will fly out to the Dominican Republic and will play a series of games against the Dominican Republic’s professional teams.

1st Annual Academy Awards and Fundraising Dinner a Tremendous Success!
Thank you to the many volunteers, students, school staff, Board of Directors, and Academy players for making the evening a huge success.
Overall, over 300 people attended the event. Keynote speakers of Jeff Zimmerman and Stubby Clapp illustrated to the sell out crowd why they are truly inspirational professional athletes. The evening raised just over $20,000.00 and we thank everyone who supported the evening as well as all who donated items for auction. A special thanks as well to Marty Baceda from Global Sports for providing the entertainment as our Master of Ceremonies!

The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball will be holding their 2nd annual information sessions February 9th and 10th, 2007. The coaching staff will be attendance to present specific information about the Academy as well as answers questions from players, parents and associations.

Vauxhall Academy of Baseball 2008/2009 Recruiting is Now Underway!
Interested student-athletes and/or parents are encouraged to fill out the recruiting information form and email/fax it to Coach McTavish at [email protected] or 403-654-4296 (fax). An information form is also available.
The interest has been tremendous to date and with the continued successes of our inaugural season we expect to again to field a very competitive roster of academic and athlete athletes.
Please check back to the website for upcoming information sessions.We are encouraging athletes and their families to visit Vauxhall and see the program in full action. We feel this is more beneficial than information sessions as it gives athletes a chance to see first hand our athletes in a classroom, baseball development, agility, and lifting program.
We continue to add additional staff, development tools, approaches and ideas to this ongoing process.
We expect the 2008/2009 roster to be complete towards the end of the spring so contact soon if you are interested.
2006 Marathon Game a huge success – over $17,500.00 raised!
The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball student-athletes would like to thank everyone for supporting the 2006 Marathon Game. It was a huge success both on and off the field. Overall, over $17,500.00 was raised and given directly back to the student-athletes to off-set their fees.
Great job everyone in helping our players – “Live their Dreams!”
