Jets win the Okotoks Dawgs Spring Tournament!

Okotoks, AB – 

The Jets had to play 3 games Sunday to win the Okotoks Tournament.  The day started off with a 13-5 victory over Team SK.  Zach Mayo started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 earned runs with 6 BB’s and 10 K’s to the earn the victory.  Nick Stobbe closed things out with an impressive 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 2 K’s.   It was a big game for the offence.  Konner Lutz led the charge going 4 for 4 with 3 doubles.  Lutz was the game MVP.  Dan Moro was 1 for 5 with an RBI and run scored.  Jager Toffan had a great game going 4 for 5 with a triple, 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Guillaume Gingras was 2 for 4 with a triple, 3 run scored and an RBI.  Devan Thomas was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.  Jason Field was 1 for 3 with a double, RBI and a run scored.  JG Weeks rounded out the offence going 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw a back and forth game that ended in a 3-3 tie vs Great Falls Chargers.  Tanner Spencer started on the mound earning the game MVP going 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, with 3 BB’s and 7 K’s.  Luke Whelpton was outstanding in relief going 2 2/3 innings allowing 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Konner Lutz had another good game driving in the game tying run in the bottom of the 7th going 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Chris Thibideau scored the run going 2 for 4.  Mitch McGeein was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

The tie put the Jets in the final vs Okotoks Dawgs Academy.  The Jets found themselves down 1-0 entering the top of the 3rd and exploded for 2 in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th and 4 in the 5th to win the Championship.  Brandon Radmacher started and was outstanding in the victory going 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run, with 3 K’s and 3 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets had 2 huge games from Thibideau and Toffan.  Jager Toffan earned Game MVP going 3 for 4 with 2 triples and a HR.  Toffan ended the game with 6 RBI’s.  Chris Thibideau set the table going 4 for 4 with a double and 3 runs scored.  Matt Benn was 2 for 3, Anthony McKinley was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Dan Moro rounded out the offence going 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored.

The Tournament MVP was Jets catch Konner Lutz.  Hats off to the Okotoks grounds crew for working so hard on the field to get the fields playable after all the snow and rain on Saturday.

Next action is Saturday May 12th @ Okotoks at 12 noon (DH).

The Jets record is now 18-8-1 overall.

Jets take 2 open Okotoks Tournament!

Okotoks, AB –

On a cold and windy day Okotoks the Jets found themselves come out on top of 2 games.  Game 1 saw the Jets win by a score of 4-1 over the St. Albert Cardinals.  Luc Hebert started and threw his best game in a Jets uniform going a complete game allowing 4 hits, 1 run with 6 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro who was 1 for 4.  Mitch McGeein who was 1 for 2 with a double.  Matt Benn who was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Jason Field who was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 runs scored.  Devon Thomas rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on top over the Sherwood Park Dukes by a score of 4-0.  Logan Seifrit started on the mound and was dominating going 4 innings allowing 1 hit with 7 K’s.  Tanner Spencer threw a solid inning with 1 K.  Brandon Radmacher earned the save going 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 4 K’s and 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jager Toffan who was 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Konner Lutz was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Matt Benn was 1 for 4.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 3 and Devon Thomas finished off a productive day going 1 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Congrats to all the Vauxhall Academy graduates.  VHS graduation is tomorrow.  Next action is Saturday at 3 pm in Okotoks vs Team SK.

Jets sweep JV Dawgs @ Jets Stadium!

The VAB Jets came out fast in Game 1 going up 6-0 after the first inning and hung on for a 7-6 victory.  Zach Mayo started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB’s and 3 K’s.   Nick Stobbe threw 1 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, with 1 BB and 1 K.  Luke Whelpton earned the save going 1 1/3 innings with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 4, Jager Toffan who was 2 for 4 with a double, Matt Benn who was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Guillaume Gingras who was 2 for 3 with a 3 run HR.   Devan Thomas pitched in with a hit as well to round out the offense.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on top by a score of 12-5 after they scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Luc Hebert started and threw 2 solid innings allowing 1 hit, 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Brandon Radmacher threw 3 innings allowing 5 htis, 3 unearned runs with 1 K and 1 BB.  Mitch McGeein went 1 inning allowing 2 runs and Chris Thibideau closed things out with a scoreless inning and a K.  Jager Toffan led the offence going 2 for 2 with a double and 4 runs scored.  Chris Thibideau was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI’s.  Matt Benn, JG Weeks, Guillaume Gingras and Travis Wallace all pitched in with 1 hit each and Anthony McKinley had his first HR of the year.

The victories pushes the Jets record to 14-8 overall and next action is at the Okotoks Tournament Thursday at 12 noon vs St. Albert.

Jets split but take the series vs Dawgs!

The VAB Jets opened the day with a 8-7 victory over the PBA JV on a hot Sunday afternoon.  Zach Mayo started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 4 BB’s and 11 K’s.   Nick Stobbe threw 1 1/3 innings allwing 3 hits, 6 runs, 1 earned run with 3 K’s and a BB.  Mitch McGeein earned the save going 2/3 inning allowing 1 hit with 1 K.   OJffensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Dan Moro was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Konner Lutz was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Jason Field had a great day going 2 for 2 with a HR and 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on the losing end by a score of 12-8.  Luke Whelpton started on the mound going 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 9 runs with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Luc Hebert threw 3 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 run with 0 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jason Field who was 2 for 3 with a HR and 2 RBI’s.  Mitch McGeein also hit a HR with 2 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan pitched in with a 1 for 2 day and 2 RBI’s.  Thibideau, Lutz, Benn, Wallace, Thomas, Moro and McKinley all pitched in with 1 hit each.

The 3-1 weekend pushes the Jets record to 12-8 overall.  Next action is Saturday April 28th vs PBA and Edmonton.

 

 

 

Jets take 2 from the Dawgs!

Vauxhall, AB –

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon the Jets offence was on fire.  The Jets pounded the PBA JV Dawgs 18-3 in the opening game behind strong pitching and a well rounded offence.  Tanner Spencer started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 3 runs on 2 BB’s and 4 K’s. Chris Thibideau threw the final inning allowing 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.  Mitch McGeein was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s, HR and 3 runs scored.  Konner Lutz was 3 for 4 with a double.  Guillaume Gingras was 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored an a RBI.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 1 with an RBI.  Jason Field was 3 for 4 with a grand slam and 4 RBI’s.

Game 2 was a back and forth game.  The Dawgs were up 5-1 and the Jets battled back to take the lead in the 5th.  The Dawgs hit a 3 run HR in the 6th to take a 2 run lead.  The Jets finally won the game with a game tying double by JG Weeks to the tie the game and a walk off single by Jager Toffan to score  Matt Benn and win the game.  Brandon Radmacher started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 7 hits, 6 runs, 1 BB and 7 K’s.  Jesse Borden earned the victory in the relief going 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs with 1 K and 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro who was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Chris Thibideau was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Mitch McGeein was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Devan Thomas was 1 for 4 with and RBI.  JG Weeks was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Konner Lutz rounded out the offence going 1 for1 with a run scored.

The 2 victories pushes the Jets record to 11-7 overall.  Next action is tomorrow at 1 pm @ Jets Stadium

Jason Field signs with NCAA California Lutheran University!

Vauxhall, AB – 

Another Jet has committed to play college baseball in the US.

OF – Jason Field – Calgary, AB –has accepted a  scholarship and has committed to attend NCAA Division 3  and Nationally ranked  California Lutheran University Kingsmen.  The Kingsmen are currently are 20-13 overall and 15-9 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

1B/OF – Travis Wallace – Calgary, AB –has accepted a  scholarship and signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NAIA Powerhouse  Lewis-Clark State College Warriors.  The Warriors have won 16 NAIA National Championships and have produced 14 MLB players.

RHP – Logan Seifrit – Spruce Grove, AB –has accepted a full scholarship and signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NJCAA Division 1 Pensacola State Pirates in Pensacola, Florida .  The Pirates play in one of the toughest conference in NJCAA baseball Florida Panhandle Conference.

OF/INF – Matt Benn – Teulon, MB –has accepted a scholarship and signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NJCAA Division 1 Colby Community College (Colby, Kansas).  The Trojans play in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.

Jets battle hard but lose to top ranked Gloucester Catholic, NJ

Las Vegas, NV –

The VAB Jets found themselves down 6-0 after 3 innings and battled back to make the game 6-3 after 6 innings.  In the 7th the Rams added an insurance run in the top of 7 and in the bottom of the 7th the Jets scored 1 run and had runners on the corners before striking out after a very good at bat to end the game.  Gloucester Catholic went on to face Bishop Gorman in the final where Joey Gallo who is 95-98 mph was throwing.

On the mound Luc Hebert started and went 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB’s and a 1 K.  Brandon Radmacher threw 3 2/3 solid innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Jesse Borden finished things off going 1 1/3 allowing 3 hits, 1 run with a couple BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro who was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Devan Thomas was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Konner Lutz was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.  Jagger Toffan rounded out the offence going 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The lose ends a successful trip for the Jets.  Next action is next Saturday vs PBA JV in Vauxhall at Jets Stadium.

 

Jets finish off the round robin with a big win to advance to semi-final!

Las Vegas, NV –

The VAB Jets beat the Rams 13-2 to advance to the semi – final of the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic.  Luke Whelpton started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 BB and 7 K’s.  Nick Stobbe threw a solid inning allowing a BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Guillaume Gingras was 2 for 4 with a run scored and RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2 with an RBI and run scored.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 2 with a 2 run HR and 3 runs scored.  Matt Benn was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Devan Thomas was 1 for 3 with a 3 run HR.  Dan Moro was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Jason Field was 1 for 3 and JG Weeks was 2 for 2 with an RBI and Jose Calderon was 2 for 2.

The victory puts the Jets record to 2-1 in the tournament and 9-6 overall.  The Jets will face Gloucester HS, NJ.  They are a Nationally ranked HS in the USA
