Jets finish off the weekend sweep of the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs at Seaman Stadium!

After defeating the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs – Black yesturday in Vauxhall the Jets finished off the weekend sweep of the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs – Red today in Okotoks at beautiful Seaman Stadium by scores of 9-0 and 6-0. 

In Game 1, Steven Inch got the win on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BB’s, with 7 K’s.  Jamin Heller threw the final 3 innings allowing 2 hits, allowing 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 2 for 5 with a SB and RBI, Tanner Craswell was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and a SB, JC Paquin was 1 for 2 with a double and RBI, Tyson Denham was 2 for 2, Dale Anderson was 1 for 1, and Colin Amendt was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

Game 2 saw Tyler Vavra get the win on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BB’s, with 7 K’s, JC Paquin threw 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 1 K, and Cole Stober threw the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tanner Craswell was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Adam Nelubowich was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Dale Anderson who was 1 for 2, and Jamin Heller who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, and 2 RBI’s. 

The wins pushes the Jets record to 24-5.  Next action is the 2nd Annual Jets Invitational Tournament presented by Haven Agencies on Thursday at 7 pm vs. the Lethbridge Elks.

Jets swept DH vs Okotoks Jr. Dawgs!

The VAB Jets won both game today vs the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs by scores of 10-2 and 9-3.

Game 1 saw Austin Cooper get the win on the mound going 5 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run, 0 BB’s, and 9 K’s.  Tyson Denham threw 1 inning of relief allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 BB, and 2 K’s.  Dale Anderson threw the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 run, 0 BB’s and 2 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Adam Nelubowich waho was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles and an RBI, JC Paquin was 2 for 3 with a HR and RBI, Mark Clauson was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, Colin Amendt was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, and Daniel Worb was 2 for 4. 

Game 2 saw Brandon Petite get the win going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 0 earned runs, 0 BB’s, and 11 K’s.  Kyle Muzechka threw the final 2 innings allowing 2 unearned run with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Tanner Craswell who was 2 for 2 with a double, Josh Stephenson who was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and Daniel Worb who was 3 for 3 with an RBI. 

The DH sweep puts the Jets record to 22-5 and the next action is tomorrow in Okotoks vs the Jr. Dawgs at Seaman Stadium at 1 pm.

Ford committs to Prairie Baseball Academy!

Infielder – Tyson Ford – Chinook, Alberta has committed to play for the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs for the fall of 2008.  Frod will be attending the University of Lethbridge.  Tyson will be playing for recently Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame inductee – Blair Kubicek and will be competing for a Canadian College Baseball Championship.  PBA has a tremendous track record of developing Canadian players for the rigors of college baseball and sending them on to very good 4 year schools in the United States.

Coach McTavish had this to say about Ford, “Tyson has sure had some tough luck this season.  He underwent shoulder surgery a couple of months and due to his committment to his rehab is ahead of schedule coming back off the injury.  Tyson was one of best hitters throughout the winter and has made so many strides with his game in the last 2 years we really look forward to seeing how good he will be for the Dawgs.  Tyson carries a 94% average in high school, he is tremendous in the community (currently coaching the Vauxhall Bantam team), he is one of the most committed players we have in the weight room, and his game on the field continues to improve everyday – even while rehabbing.  WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR IN A STUDENT-ATHLETE!  PBA is getting the complete package with Tyson.

Muzechka committs to the PBA Dawgs!

LHP – Kyle Muzechka of Vegreville, Alberta has committed to play for the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs for the fall of 2008.  Muzechka will be attending either the University of Lethbridge of Lethbridge Community College and is undecided on his major currently.  Kyle will be playing for recently Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame inductee – Blair Kubicek and will be competing for a Canadian College Baseball Championship.  PBA has a tremendous track record of developing Canadian players for the rigors of college baseball and sending them on to very good 4 year schools in the United States.

Clauson committs to Colby College in Kansas!

Following in former Jet Scott Hornstra’s footsteps – outfielder Mark Clauson has committed to play for the Colby Community College Trojans – Colby, Kansas – in the fall of 2008.  Clauson signed a letter of intent this past week and received an athletic scholarship to compete in the Jayhawk conference.

Coach McTavish had this to say about Clauson, “Mark has really made tremendous strides over the past 18 months.  Mark has not only became a much better player but, a better student and person.  Mark has developed into a leader with our club and worked his way into becoming one of our most consistent and productive hitters in our line-up.”

Jets take 2 from the Great Falls Electrics

The Jets swept a double header from the Great Falls Electrics by scores of 6-1 and 10-3.

Game 1 saw the Jets start Austin Cooper start on the mound going 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 0 BB’s, and 1 K.  Cole Stober threw the next 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 BB’s, and 1 K, Steven Inch threw 1 inning of relief allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Tyler Vavra threw the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 2 K’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Adam Nelubowich who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and a double.  Tyson Denham was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and Daniel Worb was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 10-3.  On the mound Kyle Muzechka needed 12 pitches to go 2 innings, allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 1 K.  Jamin Heller went 2 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, 0 K’s.  Tyson Denham went 1 inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s and 1 K.  JC Paquin threw 1 inning, 1 hit, 2 runs, 3 BB’s, 2 K’s.  Brandon Petite went the final inning allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 2 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Adam Nelubowich who was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and a double and HR, Tanner Craswell was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a double, JC Paquin was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Next action for the Jets is next Saturday vs the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs.  The Jets are now 20-5 overall and a 10 game winning streak.

 

Jets take 2 from a good St. Albert Cardinals club!

After spending over 12 hours shovelling snow over the last 3 days the VAB Jets finally got a chance to play today against the St. Albert Cardinals.

Game 1 saw the Jets win by a score of 14-4.  On the mound Austin Cooper got the win going 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s,  with 3 K’s.  Jamin Heller threw 2 solid innings of relief allowing 1 hit with 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Kyle Muzechka threw 1 inning of relief allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 0 BB’s, with 1 K.  Steven Inch threw the final 3 innings of relief allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 BB’s, and 4 K’s. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 1 for 3 with a HR, Adam Nelubowich who was 3 for 5, Tanner Craswell who was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and a double, Jean-Guy Bilodeau who was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s, and Chad Northcott who was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 13-3.  Tyler Vavra was very good in the start going 3 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 0 BB’s, and 5 K’s.  Cole Stober pitched well in relief going 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 5 K’s, Kyle Muzechka threw 1 quality inning of relief allowing 0’s across the board, and Brandon Petite threw 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 earned runs, with 2 BB’s and 6 K’s. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s, Adam Nelubowich was 3 for 4 with a double, Jean-Guy Bilodeau was 3 for 5 with a HR, Josh Stephenson was 2 for 4 with a HR and an RBI, and Jamin Heller was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.

Both games were better games than the score indicated and St. Albert has a very solid club with some good pitching. 

Overall, the Jets are 17-5 in the regular season and the next action is during Grad Weekend with a DH vs the Great Falls Electrics Saturday at 12 noon.

Game 2 and 3 of the mini series was played in tempetures hovering around the freezing mark. Game 1 saw the Jets win by a score of 6-3. Tyler Vavra started on the mound and went 5 innings in the win – allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 2 BB’s, and 5 K’s. Kyle Muzechka threw 2 good innings of relief allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 3 K’s. Steven Inch finished off the game going 2 inning allowing 3 hits, 2 unearned runs, 1 BB, and 3K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Adam Nelubowich who was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a double and Jean-Guy Bilodeau who was 2 for 4.

Game 2, saw the Jets win by a final score of 6-0. Brandon Petite was very dominent in the victory going 4 innings, allowing 1 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 8 K’s. Cole Stober threw 2 good innings of relief giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, with 2 BB’s, and 4 K’s. Jamin Heller finished off the game going 1 inning allowing 2 hits and 0 runs. Offensively, the Jets were led by Chad Northcott who was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI’s and Daniel Worb who was 2 for 3 with a double.

The Jets have now won 11 of their last 12 games and have extended their regular season record to 15-5. Next action for the Jets is next weekend against a strong Midget AAA team – St. Albert Cardinals.

Jets play well against PBA JV!

The VAB Jets played well today in Lethbridge vs a tough PBA JV squad. The game opened up with PBA scoring 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st inning off of Austin Cooper and the Jets responded with an 8 spot in the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back.

Austin Cooper got the win on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 unearned run, 3 HBP’s and 3K’s. Cooper was very good in probably his best start of the season. Tyson Denham threw 2 quality innings of relief giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 K’s, and 1 BB.

Offensively the Jets were led by Mark Clauson who was 4 for 5 with a double, triple, RBI, and 3 runs scored. Tanner Craswell was 3 for 5 with a double, triple and 4 RBI’s. Jean-Guy Bilodeau was 3 for 3with a double and 4 RBI’s.

The final score ended up 12-2. Next action is tomorrow in Vauxhall at Jets Stadium at 4:00 pm (DH).
