3 more Jets sign to play college baseball!

Vauxhall, AB – 

The Vauxhall Academy is proud to announce 3 more Jets have committed to US schools on scholarship for the 2016-2017 season.  All 3 players will finish up their spring in Vauxhall and will join their respective college programs in the fall of 2016.  With the addition of these 3 Jets signing with college programs that makes 10 Jets on the current roster who have committed.   We are very proud of all of these young men and look forward to sharing additional college commitments soon.

INF – Shawn Grandmont  – Lethbridge, AB – has accepted an NJCAA Division 1 athletic scholarship to attend College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles in Twin Falls, Idaho.  The Golden Eagles play in one of the top junior college conferences the Scenic West Conference. Win steak snapped at 8 games with a split vs Lethbridge!

Vauxhall, AB – 

On a beautiful Mothers Day in Vauxhall the Jets saw their winning streak snapped at 8 games with a 5-4 loss to Lethbridge before coming back with a 9-0 victory in game 2.

Josh Burgmann started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 BB and 9 K’s.  Connor Green threw 1 inning allowing 4 hits, 5 runs with 4 BB’s.  David Richards finished things off going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 BB’s with 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets only managed 3 hits.  Victory Cerny went 1 for 3.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 and Matt Rath was 1 for 2.

Game 2 saw the Jets score most innings cruising to a 9-0 victory.  Carsen Perkins started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits with 3 K’s.  Garrett Nicholson went 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Malainey who was 1 for 4 with a triple.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 4 with a 2 run HR and 3 RBI’s.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 2.  Tyler Wood was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI’s.  Matt Rath was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Liam Vulcano rounded out the offense going 2 for 3.

Next action for the Jets is next Saturday in Okotoks DH.

The Jets came out of the gate slow but certainly got the offense going winning 9-2 in game 1 and 12-0 in game 2.

Bryce Fraser started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 3 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Jalen Lane earned the save going 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led Jordan Malainey who was 1 for 4 with a grand slam.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 4 with a double.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Jared Binsfeld rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

Game 2 Brandon Hatley started on the mound going 3 innings with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s.  KJ Moreno threw 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 2 K’s and Wesley Moore finished things off going 2 innings with 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Malainey who was 2 for 4 with a double.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 3 with a 2 run HR.  Brett Resch had a huge game going 2 for 4 with 2 – 3 run HR’s with 6 RBI’s.  Damiano Palmegiani 3 for 4 with a double.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 3 with a 2 run HR.  Ben Erwin was 1 for 1.  Tyler Wood was 1 for 4.  Jared Binsfeld was 3 for 3 with a double to round out the offense.

The Jets started the day off vs Calgary Rockies in a big way with an 8-2 victory and continued to stay hot with a 9-1 victory in the final over the PBA JV.

Game 1 saw Josh Burgmann start and was dominate going 5 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 2 BB’s and 11 K’s.  Garrett Nicholson threw 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 run with 3 BB’s and 1 K.  David Richards finished things off going 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit with 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Dray who was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Brett Resch was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Tyler Wood was 1 for 2.  Jared Binsfeld was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Matt Rath rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

The Championship saw the Jets play against the PBA JV with the Jets coming out on top with a 9-1 victory.  Carsen Perkins had a great start going 5 innings allowing 4 hits with 0 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Jalen Lane threw 1 inning allowing 2 BB’s with run allowed.  Ben Erwin finished things off throwing 1 inning allowing 2 hits with 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets had a big day pounding out 17 hits with every player in the starting 9 registering a hit.  Jordan Malainey was 1 for 5.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 5 with an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.  Brett Resch was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and an RBI.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Tyler Wood was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 4.  Liam Vulcano was 2 for 4. Matt Rath rounded out the offense going 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Jets continue to play well with a 11-0 win over Saskatoon!

Lethbridge, AB – 

The game was tight until the 6th inning with a 3-0 score when the Jets scored 4 runs in the 6th and 4 runs in the 7th.

Wesley Moore was dominate on the mound going 6 innings allowing 2 hits with 8 K’s and 1 BB.  KJ Moreno was very good in his inning of work going 1 inning with 1 K.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Malainey who was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 3 for 5.  Damiano Palmegiani was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Matt Rath was 1 for 3 to round out the offense.

The Jets will now meet up with the Calgary Rockies at 12 noon at Spitz Stadium.
