Jets finish up road trip with another big victory!

Bozeman, Montana –

The VAB Jets finished off the road trip with a convincing 10-0 victory.  The game was close until the bottom of the 4th inning when the Jets broke it open.  Brody McDonald started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 K’s and 1 BB.  Chad Hodges threw a great inning of relief striking out the side.

Offensively, the Jets displayed a balanced attack with 11 hits in total.  Greg Adams was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Shane Zimmer was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and a game inning 2 run HR.  Brendan Hendriks was 2 for 3 with an RBI and SB.  Brant Hittel, Matt Clark and Kym Barthel all pitched in with 1 hit each.

The Jets finished the road trip undefeated and outscored opponents 57 – 6.  The Jets overall record is now 23 – 7 overall and next action is in the Haven Agencies Tournament in Vauxhall with the opening game going Thursday at 7 pm vs Lethbridge Elks.

Jets continue to play well with a 11-1 victory!

The VAB Jets pitched extremely well, played well defensively and had a balanced offensive attach.  Justin Davies threw very well going 5 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 2 BB’s and 12 K’s.  He threw first pitch strike to 16 of 18 hitters he faced.

Offensively, the Jets saw 8 Jets all collect 1 hit each.  Kym Barthel was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored and 2 BB’s.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with an RBI, 3 runs scored and 2 BB’s.  Ben Douglas was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Shane Zimmer was 1 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 3.  Chayse Marion was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Marc St. Jean was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Matt Clark was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 23 – 7 overall.  The Jets face a very talent LHP from the Kalispel Lakers tomorrow at 10:00 am.

Jets continue offensive production with 20 hits!

The VAB Jets continued to really swing the bats with 20 hits and winning by a score of 21-1.  On the mound Taylor Simmonds started and went 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 6 K’s and 5 BB’s for the win.  Greg Adams threw the final 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 K’s and 1 BB.

Offensively, the Jets were led by a huge day by Brendan Hendriks who was 5 for 5 with 6 RBI’s, 4 runs scored and 2 doubles.  Chayse Marion was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and a double.  Marc St. Jean was 3 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.  Luke Barry, Greg Adams and Curtis Mazurkewich had 2 hits each.  Kym Barthel, Ben Douglas and Shane Zimmer each had 1 hit.

The Jets return to action tonight at 8 pm vs Bozeman Bucks.  The win pushes the Jets overall record to 22 – 7 overall.

Jets open Bozeman with a big win!

The VAB opened up the Bozeman Bucks Round Robin Tournament with a convincing victory over the host Bozeman Bucks by a score of 15 – 4.

On the mound Paul Schaak started and threw very well going 6 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs with 4 K’s and 3 BB’s.  Victor Caruso threw the 7th inning allowing 1 hit,  1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets pounded out 16 hits in total.  Chayse Marion had a huge day going 3 for 4 with 2 HR’s, 8 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Ben Douglas also had a great day going 4 for 4 with 2 RBI’s with a double and 5 runs scored.  Luke Barry was 2 for 4 with 4 runs scored.  Marc St. Jean, Greg Adams, Matt Clark, Brant Hittel, Curtis Mazurkewich, Brendan Hendriks, Shane Zimmer all had 1 hit each.  Hendriks pitched in with 3 RBI’s and Adams added 2 RBI’s.

The Jets continue the road trip tomorrow against the Gallatin Valley Outlaws at 11:00 am and then against the Bozeman Bucks at 8:00 pm.  The Jets overall record is now 21 – 7.

Jets take 2 from Great Falls Chargers!

The VAB Jets won both games on Graduation weekend by scores of 9-1 and 16-6.  Game 1 saw Paul Schaak start on the mound going 5 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run, 4 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Taylor Simmonds threw 2 solid innings in relief allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 K and 2 BB’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored.  Ben D0uglas was 1 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.  Shane Zimmer had a huge day going 2 for 2 with a 3 run HR and a Grand Slam.  Chayse Marion was 1 for 2 and Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 3.

Game 2 saw the Jets swing the balls very well again.  Justin Davies had a solid start on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run with 6 K’s and a BB.  Brody McDonald threw 1 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs with 1 BB and 1 K.  Chad Hodges threw 1 inning allowing 3 hits, 3 runs with 5 BB’s.  Victor Caruso threw the final 1 2/3 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 K’s and a BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by a couple huge games.  Kym Barthel was 4 for 4 with 2 – HR’s, double, 3 RBI’s and 3 runs scored.  Shane Zimmer was 3 for 4 with 2 more HR’s, 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored (on the day Zimmer had 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s).  Ben Douglas was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored.  Brendan Hendriks, Curtis Mazurkewich, Marc St. Jean and Greg Adams all chipped in with a hit each.

The 2 wins pushes the Jets record to 20 – 7 overall.  Next action is next Friday night in Bozeman vs Bozeman Bucks.  The schedule has changed with the Jets playing Friday night, 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday.  Stay tuned to the website for an updated schedule.

2 More Jets have made committments to play college baseball in the fall of 2010 – overall this makes 9 Jets so far!   Douglas and Barthel join 7 other Jets who have committed to schools so far.  See below for details:

The 2009-2010 college committment campaign starts off with a bang as 2nd year standout Shane Zimmer has committed to Canisius College Griffins in Buffalo, NY.  Zimmer is just coming back from ACL surgery last May.

Jets take 2 games from the Dawgs!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets won both games vs the Okotoks Dawgs on a cool and windy day in Vauxhall.  Game 1 saw the Jets come out on top by a score of 6-3.  Paul Schaak started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 3 K’s and 3 BB’s.  Chad Hodges threw 1 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 2 K’s and 4 BB’s.  Levi Westerlund threw the next 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 1 run, 2 K’s and 4 BB’s.  Victor Caruso earned the save going 1/3 of an inning getting the Dawgs to pop up with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th of inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Ben Douglas was 1 for 4 with a run scored.  Shane Zimmer was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.  Brant Hittel was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. 

Game 2 saw a very well pitched game by both clubs.  The Jets won by a score of 1-0  in the bottom of the 8th on a Dawgs error.  Brody McDonald started on the mound throwing the ball well going 3 innings allowing 3 hits with 5 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Taylor Simmonds threw the next 3 innings allowing 0 hits with 6 K’s and 3 BB’s.  Justin Davies earned the victory going 2 innings allowing 0 hits with 5 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 1 for 3.  Ben Douglas was also 1 for 3.  Brendan Hendriks was also 1 for 3 and scored the winning run.  Nick Koh rounded out the offense also going 1 for 3. 

The win pushes the Jets overall record to 18 – 7.  Next action is next Saturday May 7th in Vauxhall vs the Great Falls Chargers.
