Jets have a successful fall!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets finished off the fall season playing 17 games as well as hosting a successful PBR scout day. Several players also made the trip to Toronto to participate in the pretigious Blue Jays showcase at the roster center. The 2023/2024 roster consists of 10 newcomers and 12 veterans coming to Vauxhall from BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario, PEI, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The current Jets roster has the following breakdown: 11 seniors, 9 juniors and 2 sophmores. Below is the final scores for each fall game:

Jets are off and running in 2023/2024!

The Vauxhall Academy is off and running with season #18 underway. An exciting new wave of 1st year players as well as some talented experienced veterans look to lead the Jets into the fall season. The team undertook some MLB combine testing to open up the training. The Jets will open the fall campaign in Lethbridge September 9th vs Parkland Academy 10:00 am, PBA 12:30 pm and then again on Sunday September 10th vs Parkland 12:30 pm, PBA 3:00 pm.

Jets BOW Champions with 5-3 victory over Okotoks!!

The Vauxhall Academy finished with a perfect 5-0 record to win the pretigious Best of the West Tournament in Kamloops, BC.

Game 1 – 8-0 victory over the BC Minor Selects

Game 2 – 8-5 victory over the North Shore Twins

Game 3 – 2-0 win over the BLE Selects

Semi Final – 11-2 victory over the Langley Blaze

Finals – 5-3 victory over the Okotoks Dawgs Black

Jets win PBA Tournament with 6-2 win over Okotoks Dawgs!

Jets run the table to win the Prairie Baseball Academy tournament for the 6th straight time.  The Jets finished the weekend with a 5-0 record overall including a 6-2 victory over the Okotoks Dawgs in the finals.

Brett Getz was dominant throwing a complete game going 5 IP allowing 6 hits 1 run with 0 BB’s and 7 K’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Stevyn Andrachick who was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Kyle Yip was 1 for 4 with a 2B and 2 RBI’s.  Colin Fisher was 3 for 4 with a 2B and 2 RBI’s. Alex Laurence was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Seth Christie was 2 for 2 with an RBI.  Luke Wheatley was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Pat MacInnis threw well in the start going 5 IP allowing 1 hit, 0 runs with 2 BB’s and 5 K’s. Parker Austin threw 2 IP allowing 2 hits, 2 runs with 3 BB’s and 1 K. Offensively, the Jets were led by Stevyn Andrachick who was 1 for 3 with a 2B.  Colin FIsher was 1 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. Kyle Yip was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Brennan McTavish was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Karsen Haney was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Luke Wheatley was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Eric Reiling was 1 for 4 and Ty Clemett was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

Jimmy Boulanger started on the mound going 5 IP allowing 2 hits, 1 unearned run with 0 BB’s and 7 K’s. Hudson Kozicki threw ⅔ IP allowing 3 hits, 2 earned runs.  Keegan McNeil earned the save going 1 ⅓ IP allowing 0 hits, 0 runs with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Stevyn Andrachick who was 3 for 3 with a 2B and 3B.  Kyle Yip was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Colin Fisher was 1 for 2 with a 3B and 2 RBI’s. Jack Baxter started on the mound going 5 IP allowing 2 hits, 1 unearned run with 1 BB and 3 K’s. Jacob Burgess threw 1 IP allowing 2 hits with 1 K. Rory McDonald threw the final IP allowing 0 hits, 1 unearned run with 3 BB’s and 2 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Stevyn Andrachick who was 2 for 4 with a 2B and RBI. Colin Fisher was 1 for 3 with a 2B and 2 RBI’s. Seth Christie was 1 for 2. Raphael Ranger was 1 for 3. Alex Laurence was 1 for 2. Luke Wheatley was 1 for 3 with an RBI. 

Jets finish 3-1 in the Langley series!

Langley, BC –

The Jets made the journey over the Rocky Mountains for a series vs the Langley Blaze for the 1st time in both programs history. Big shout out and thank you to the Blaze program for a first class weekend on many fronts from supplying meals to the field conditions and most importantly great competition. The weekend was more than just baseball a weekend to showcase and competition between 2 of the better programs in Western Canada.

Parker Austin threw after Getz before Kyle Yip finished things off going the final 1 IP allowing 0 hits, 0 runs with 1 BB and 1 K. Offensively, the Jets were led by Stevyn Andrachick who was 1 for 3 with a HR. Colin Fisher was 1 for 3 with a HR. Brennan McTavish was 2 for 3 with a double. Ty Clemett rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Successful trip to Las Vegas, NV including National ranked victory!

The trip started off a bit shaky with poor weather in Twin Falls, Idaho and Salt Lake City pushed the schedule further south to Las Vegas.

First of all thank you to everyone who traveled to attend the 17th Annual Awards night.   Also a special thank you to all the sponsors and donors for leading the way with first class auction items.

Shaun Haney led the evening as our MC and did an excellent job. His Q & A was very professional and made the event very memorable for our featured speaker.  Former Toronto Blue Jay ace and MLB allstar Ricky Romero did a tremendous job speaking telling stories and giving insight into his wonderful 10 year professional career.  Ricky walked the large audience through his career from high school to be an MLB allstar. Several Awards and Scholarships were handed out highlighted by the Reno Lizzi Scholarships presented by Barbara & Yukio Kitagawa.
