Jets take 2 from Badlands Academy!

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets swept the Badlands Academy on a beautiful fall day in Vauxhall by scores of 6-2 and 10-5. 

Game 1 saw Brandon Radmacher dominate threw 5 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 6 K’s and 0 BB.  Tanner Spencer earned the save going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 unearned, 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Guillaume Gingras who was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base.  Mitch McGeein was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Anthony McKinley was 2 for 2 with a double, 2 RBI’s and a stolen base. 

Game 2 saw Luke Whelpton start and earn the victory going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 unearned runs, 6 K’s and 1 BB.  Nick Stobbe threw 1 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs scored, 2 K’s and 3 BB’s.  Jesse Borden threw the final 1 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were ledy by Jager Toffan who was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 runs scored and stolen base.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.  Konner Lutz was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with a 3 run HR.  Travis Wallace was 2 for 2 with a double, 2 runs scored and a stolen base.  Matt Benn and Jose Calderon rounded out the offense with a hit a piece and Calderon pitched in with 2 RBI’s. 

Next action is next weekend vs PBA.  Schedule is TBA.

Jets lose a close one to PBA!

Lethbridge, AB –

The VAB Jets lost a tight one by a score of 4-1 to the Prairie Baseball Academy.  A 3 run 5th inning ended up being the difference in the contest.  The Jets out hit the Dawgs 7-4 but a a few walks and a couple of costly errors proved to the the difference.

Zach Mayo started on the mound going 4 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs, 6 K’s and 5 BB’s.  Chris Thibideau threw a very solid 1 1/3 innings allowing 0 hits and 0 runs.  Logan Seifrit held the Dawgs at bay going the final 2 innings with 3 K’s and 0 hits. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by JG Weeks who had a very productive day at the plate going 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Dan Moro, Konner Lutz and Anthony McKinley pitched in with singles and Jager Toffan added a double.

Next action for the Jets is tomorrow @ Jets Stadium vs Badlands Academy with a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.

Schedule Update – Special Birthday wishes to a special Jet – Yukio!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB weekend schedule has changed slightly.  The games on Saturday @ PBA have been changed from a DH to a single 9 inning contest starting at 2 pm.  The Jets will then take on the Badlands Academy Sunday @ 1pm DH in Vauxhall. 

The entire Jets organization, Vauxhall community members, VAB supporters and VHS staff were treated to a special event.  #1 Jets supporter Yukio Kitagawa and his wife Barbara were in Vauxhall to celebrate his 75th birthday.  Yukio treated the crowd to a special power lifting demonstration in the new weight room.  Yukio is a former Canadian weightlifting champion and thrilled the large crowd with his passion, dedication and athletic ability in the weight room.  Yukio was complemented by one of his first students dating back to 1960.  Lorne put his true strength on display and truely impressed everyone in attendance.  Yukio and his wife Barbara are true inspirations to our entire organization and we look forward to many more years as partners in developing our student-athletes on and off the field of play. In a special ceremony the weight room was officially named “Kitagawa Fitness Center!”

Jets finish road trip with quality game vs CSI!

Boise, Idaho –

The VAB Jets saw a late lead slip away vs the College of Southern Idaho with 2 costly errors that eventually ended the game in a 10-8 score for CSI.

Brandon Radmacher started on the mound for the Jets going 4 innings allowing 9 hits, 6 runs, 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Logan Seifrit threw 2 very solid innings allowing 1 hit, 1 K and 1 BB with 0 runs.  Tanner Spencer took the loss despite only allowing 1 earned run going 1 2/3 innings allowing 4 hits,  3 BB’s and 1 K.  Zach Yandeau rounded out the pitching  going 1  1/3 iinnings allowing a solo HR. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro who was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 4 with a solo HR.  Matt Benn was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored.  Konner Lutz was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored.  Guillaume Gingras was 1 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Jason Field rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with a single. 

The Jets were also able to visit the Boise State University Campus.  The players were treated to a tour of the football facility, locker room, weight, etc. 

Next action for the Jets is next Saturday vs PBA in Lethbridge.

Jets come out flat and lose 2 to Treasure Valley, Oregon!

Boise, Idaho –

TheVAB Jets came out flat and battled from behind most of the day losing 7-0 and12-8 to Treasure Valley Junior College from Oregon.  Game 1 saw Luke Whelpton start on the mound going 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 K’s and 6 K’s. Nick Stobbe threw the final 3 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 K and 5 BB’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro whowas 1 for 3. Jager Toffan was 1 for 3.  Konner Lutz was 1 for 2 and Jason Field was 1 for 2 to round out the offense. 

Game 2 saw some more offense but the Jets could not hold TVCC late in the game.  Luc Hebert started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 runs, 1 earned run, 1 K and 3 K’s.  Jesse Borden went 2 innings allowing 8 hits, 9 runs, 7 eared runs, 1 K and 5 BB. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Anthony McKinley who was 3 for 3 with a big 2 run HR, double, 5 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  JagerToffan was1 for 3 with a doule, run scored and RBI.  Devon Thomas was1 for3 with an RBI.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Jose Calderon rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with a run scored. 

The 2 loses puts the Jets record this fall to 8-8-1 overall.  The Jets have now played 11 of their 17 games vs college baseball teams.  Next action is tomorrow in Boise vs a very tough College of Southern Idaho team.  Former Jet Ben Douglas (2008/2009) will be suited up for the Eagles

Jets play well to open up in Boise!

Boise, Idaho –

The VAB Jets rode the bus for 15 hours over 2 days, visited College of Southern Idaho Campus/Baseball Facility and finally played a good Idaho Cubs baseball team.  The Jets went down 2-0 after 1 inning giving up a solo HR and an unearned run.  The Jets chipped away with 1 run in the 5th and 1 in the 6th before the game ending in a 2-2 tie after 8 innings.

Zach Mayo started on the mound throwing 7 great innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 7 K’s and 5 BB’s.  Tanner Spencer threw a scoreless inning in the 7th.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Matt Benn who was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 1 with a run scored and Jason Field was 1 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.  Field lined out in top of the 8th inning on a diving play by the right fielder with a runner in scoring position. 

Next action the Jets will face Treasure Valley College from Ontario, Oregon.

Jets split to finish the tournament with a 3-1 record!

Lethbridge, AB –

The VAB Jets beat the Badlands Academy 12 – 0 to reach the final but lost to the PBA 5 – 1 in the tournament final.

Game 1 saw Luc Hebert start on the mound throwing 6 tremendous innings allowing 1 hit, with 1 K.  Zach Yandeau relieved Hebert throwing a 4 pitch 7th inning allowing 1 hit.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jager Toffan who was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a grand slam.  Matt Benn was 2 for 3 with a double, 3 RBI’s and a run scored.  Devon Thomas was 1 for 4.  Mitch McGeein was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. 

Game 2 saw the Jets lose to the PBA 5-1 behind the Dawgs 2 very solid pitchers.  Luke Whelpton started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Jesse Borden relieved Whelpton going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, 1 earned run and 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets could not put together much offense with Jager Toffan going 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Dan Moro was 1 for 3 with a run scored. 

The split pushes the Jets record to 8-6 overall in the fall.  Next action is a challenging weekend in Boise, Idaho vs Idaho Cubs, Treasure Valley College from Oregon and College of Southern Idaho.

Jets take 2 from PBA!

The VAB Jets had a very productive day vs the Prairie Baseball Academy.  The Jets were victorious in Game 1 by a score of 3-2 and in Game 2 by a score of 6-2. 

Game 1 saw Zach Mayo start on the mound going 6 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Tanner Spencer earned the victory in relief going 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run , 1 BB and 1 K.  The Jets were led offensively by Dan Moro who was 1 for 3.  Jager Toffan who was 3 for 4.  Mitch McGeein was 1 for 2.  Konner Lutz was 1 for 2 with a run scored.  Devon Thomas was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. 

Game 2 saw the Jets battle from behind 1-0 and scored 3 runs in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th to earn a 6-2 victory.  Brandon Radmacher made his debut as a starter going 4 innings allowing 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 2 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Nick Stobbe earned the save going 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Dan Moro who was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 3.   Guillaume Gingras was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and a run scored.  Konner Lutz was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Travis Wallace was 1 for 3 with a big solo HR.  Devon Thomas was 2 for 3 with a run scored. 

The Jets now play at 12 noon vs Badlands Academy at Henderson Stadium and then at 3 pm vs PBA at 3 pm in the Final Game. 

The 2 victories pushes the Jets record to 7-5 overall in the fall.
