Marathon Game PPD!

Vauxhall, AB –

The 4th Annual 100 inning marathon game has been PPD due to the forecast of rain as well as close to 1/2 of the Jets sick with the flu.  The game will be rescheduled most likely for the spring season.

Jets tie PBA to finish off the fall season!

Lethbridge, AB –

The Jets took an early lead and eventually allowed 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie 3-3 after 8 innings Wednesday night in Lethbridge.  Overall, it was a hard fought game with several Jets out of the line-up with the flu.   Justin Davies got the start on the mound and was outstanding going 3 inning allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB’s with 6 K’s.  Brody McDonald threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit with 0 runs.  Chad Hodges threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 BB with 0 runs.  Victor Caruso threw 1 inning allowing 0 hits and 0 runs.  Derek Grubel struggled a bit with the strike zone allowing 3 runs on 3 BB’s.  Blair Balog finished things off going 1 2/3 innings allowing 0 runs with a K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.  Greg Adams was 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.  Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 3, Levi Westerlund was 1 for 3 and Brandt Hittel was 1 for 2.  Luke Barry rounded out the offense going 2 for 4 with an RBI and 2 SB’s. 

The tie ends the Jets fall season with a record of 17 wins – 8 losses and 2 ties.

Jets split to finish off home schedule

Vauxhall, AB –

The Jets split their final home games for the fall against the Okotoks Dawgs winning game 1 by a score of 12-4 and losing game 2 by a score of 9-3.  Game 1 saw Paul Schaak start and earn the victory going 6 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned runs, 2 BB’s, 3 K’s and 4 hits.  Chad Hodges threw the final inning allowing only 1 baserunner that reached on an error.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, a double, and 2 runs scored.  Brody McDonald was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Shane Zimmer was 1 for 4, Brendan Hendriks was 1 for 2 , Curtis Mazurkewich was 1 for 3 with a 3 run HR, Luke Barry was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Marc St. Jean was 1 for 2 with an RBI and run scored. 

Game 2 saw the Jets come out very flat and didn’t muster any offense until the 7th inning.  Levi Westerlund started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 4 hits, 3 BB’s and 8 K’s.  Brendan Hendriks threw 1 inning allowing 3 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs with 2 BB’s.  Marc St. Jean threw the final inning allowing 2 hits, 1 unearned with 2 K’s.  Offensively the Jets were led by Greg Adams who was 2 for 4, Brandt Hittel was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Brody McDonald was 1 for 3 with a run scored, Shane Zimmer was 1 for 1, Chad Hodges was 2 for 3 with a run scored. 

The split pushes the Jets fall record to 17 wins – 8 losses – 1 tie.  The last Jets fall game is this Wednesday when the Jets travel to Lethbridge to take on the PBA.  Game time 4 pm.

Jets Start Weekend with 2 Wins

The Jets took 2 games in their first meeting with Okotoks this fall.  In game 1 the Jets saw Justin Davies earn the victory on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 run, 2 BB’s and 8 K’s.  Victor Caruso and Brody McDonald threw the final 3 innings as the Jets cruised to a 12-4 victory.  Offensively, the Jets exploded for arguably their best performance to date, scoring 12 runs on 15 hits, including 9 extra base hits.  The Jets were led by Brendan Hendriks who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a homerun, and 5 RBI’s.  Kym Barthel was a homerun shy of the cycle in a 4 for 5 effort.  Brant Hittel, Ben Douglas and Curtis Mazerkuwich also played a big role in the win as they combined for 6 of the Jets’ 15 hits.  Blair Balog and Luke Barry also chipped in with a hit a piece.

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 5-1.  Taylor Simmonds earned the victory on the mound allowing only 2 hits over his 6 innings of work.  Blair Balog only needed 11 pitches in the seventh to seal the 16th win of the fall for the Jets.   Offensively, the Jets only collected 3 hits as a team.  Brant Hittel had the big hit for the Jets as he collected 2 RBI’s in his first inning homerun.  Kym Barthel and Levi Westerlund rounded out the offence collecting a hit each.

The Jets will play 2 more against the Dawgs tomorrow in Vauxhall.  Game Time 1:00 p.m

Jets finish off Washington weekend with 2 game sweep!

Pullman, WA

The Jets took 2 games in a big way over Baseball Northwest Sunday in Pullman, WA by scores of 11-1 and 7-0.  Game 1 saw Derek Grubel earn the victory on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 run, 2 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Blair Balog threw the final 2 innings allowing 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 BB, 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Brendan Hendriks who was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and 3 runs scored.  Kym Barthel was 1 for 4 with a triple and run scored.  Brody McDonald was 1 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Ben Dartnell was 1 for 4.  Brandt Hittel was 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.  Luke Barry was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI’s, a double and 1 run scored.  Cody Lencucha was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and a triple.  Marc St. Jean was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. 

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 7-0 and the NO-HITTER thrown by starter Paul Schaak (this is the 2nd no hitter of the fall as Taylor Simmonds threw one earlier in the fall).  Schaak threw 7 innings allowing only 2 BB’s and had 9 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a triple.  Greg Adams was 1 for 4 with a double.  Ben Douglas was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Shane Zimmer was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  Curtis Mazukewich was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.  Chad Hodges was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Luke Barry and Blair Balog both added a hit a piece as well. 

The 2 wins pushes the Jets record to 14 wins – 7 losses and 1 tie.  Next action is slated for Wednesday in Lethbridge vs PBA.

Jets add a loss and tie in Washington!

Pullman, WA –

The Jets blew a late lead in the bottom of the 7th inning at WSU Saturday morning against Baseball Northwest Senior Allstars.  The Jets made 3 errors in the 7th to lose 7-6.  Taylor Simmonds started on the mound going 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 BB’s, with 4 K’s.  Marc St. Jean took the loss going 2/3 inning allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 unearned to take the loss.   Offensively, the Jets were led Kym Barthel who was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored.  Ben Douglas was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Blair Balog was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Marc St. Jean, Ben Dartnell and Derek Grubel all chipped in with 1 hit each. 

Game 2 saw the Jets again blow a 1 run lead in the 7th to finish the game with a tie 1-1.  Victor Caruso started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 BB.  Justin Davies threw in relief going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run, 4 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chad Hodges who was 1 for 3 with an RBI double.  Blair Balog was 1 for 1 with 2 BB’s.  Kym Barthel, Ben Douglas, Shane Zimmer, Greg Adams and Brody McDonald all chipped in with 1 hit each. 

The Jets record is now 12 wins – 7 losses – 1 tie.  Next action is tomorrow at WSU – Bailey Brayton Field against Baseball Northwest at 10 am (DH).

Jets lose snow shortened game at PBA!

Lethbridge, AB –

The Jets lost a tight game by a score of 3-1 to the Prairie Baseball Academy.  The game was called after 5 1/2 innings due to snow.  On the mound Paul Schaak started and went 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 earned run, 5 K’s and 1 BB.  Derek Grubel threw the next 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Curtis Mazurkewich who was 1 for 1.  The Jets only mustered 1 hit while only allowing 4 hits in the pitchers duel. 

The loss pushes the Jets record to 12 wins – 6 losses.  Next action is at Washington State University on Saturday at 9 am (DH).  The players will have a chance to visit with former Jet and Seattle Mariner draft pick Adam Nelubowich who is playing the corner infield at WSU.  The Jets will also take in the Homecoming football game on Saturday as the Cougars take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.
