Jets finish the season with a big win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks!

The Jets ended the season in a big way with a 7-3 win over the WMBL Medicine Hat Mavericks.

On the mound Austin Cooper was very dominant on the mound going 4 innings for the win allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 5 K’s.  After the first batter of the inning Cooper did not allow another baserunner.  Cole Stober threw well in relief going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 2 K’s.  Tyson Denham threw well for the 7th inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, and 1 K.  Jamin Heller closed things out for the win going 1 inning allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 BB (first walk of the season – WOW), and 0 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Mark Clauson who was 3 for 4 with a triple, double, single and 3 RBI’s.  Dustin Thompson, Tanner Craswell, Chad Northcott, Josh Stephenson all had 1 hit a piece.

The victory ends the Jets season with a 30-7 record.  All the players made tremendous improvements and were a true pleasure to coach and be around on and off the field.

Jets loose a tight game to the Lethbridge Bulls!

The Jets played alot better last night in a close loss to WMBL powerhouse – Lethbridge Bulls.  The Jets led 3-1 after 3 innings, 4-3 after 7 innings and ended up giving up the lead in the top of the 8th inning after a miscue on a double play ball.  The final score was 6-4 for the Bulls.

Steven Inch started and did very well on the mound going 6 innings for the no-decision allowing 6 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB’s and 5K’s.  Kyle Muzechka took the loss but, threw the ball well going 1 1/3 allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Jamin Heller threw well in relief going 1 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s. 

Offensively the Jets were led by Chad Northcott who was 2 for 5 with an RBI and Daniel Worb who was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and 2 RBI’s.  Nelubowich, Craswell, Clauson, and Denham all had 1 hit apiece.

Next action is tonight at 7 pm in Medicine Hat against the WMBL Marericks.  This raps up the season.  The Jets overall record is 29-7.

Bulls end the Jets 20 game winning streak in a big way!

The game was close for the first 5 innings and then the Bulls exploded for 12 runs in the 6th inning to end the game by a score of 18-2.

Tyler Vavra started on the mound and took the loss going 5 innings allowing 7 hits 6 earned runs, 4 BB’s, and 3 K’s.  Cole Stober pitched 1/3 of an inning and after 2 defensive errors in the infield the Bulls exploded for 6 hits, 11 runs (9 earned runs), 3 BB’s and 0 K’s.  Kyle Muzechka recorded the final 2 outs of the inning with a groundball and K. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Chad Northcott who was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Josh Stephenson was 2 for 2 with a run scored and RBI.  Adam Nelubowich, Dustin Thompson, Mark Clauson all ended with 1 hit each.

THe loss ends the Jets winning streak and takes their record to 29-6 overall.  Next action is tonight at 7 pm against the same WMBL Lethbridge Bulls.  Steven Inch is slated to start on the mound. 

Tommy Tallef Tournament Cancelled!

The entire Tommy Tallef tournament has been cancelled due to poor weather.  It rained all night long and is raining today.  Currently, we are working on other options for games but, the forcast looks poor and the fields are in poor condition.  These will be posted online as soon as they become available.

The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball is very proud to announce that 4 current student-athletes will be travelling with the Canadian National Junior Team to the Dominican Republic May 21st – 30th, 2008.

THis is one of the final legs of the tryout process for the final roster which will compete at the 2008 World Junior Baseball Championships in Edmonton, Alberta July 25th – August 2nd. 

Brandon Petite – RHP – Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Dale Anderson – Inf – Strathmore, Alberta, Lionel Morrill – OF – Edmonton, Alberta, and JC Paquin – 1B/RHP – Montreal, Quebec will join 25 other athletes in their quest for a final roster spot. 

The Junior National Team will take on Major League affiliated teams of the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners.

Schedule announced for Great Falls Tournament!

The VAB will be travelling to Great Falls for the Tommy Tallef tournament May 23rd – 26th, 2008.  All games are at Centenne Field (Chicago White Sox Rookie Team Field) except for the 1 game listed below.  The team will be staying at the Holiday Inn.

Jets win the 2nd annual Jets Invitational!

The final game of the Jets 2nd Annual Invitational Tournament presented by Haven Agencies had a taste of everything.  After the game being tied until 6th inning, 2 players ejected (1 from each team), quality hitting and oustanding pitching the game finally saw the Jets come out on top 3-1.

Austin Cooper started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run, 0 BB’s, and 3 K’s.  Cole Stober threw a scoreless 5th inning allowing 1 hit, Jamin Heller threw a scoreless 6th inning to earn the win and Tyler Vavra threw a scoreless 7th inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, with 1 BB, and 2 K’s to earn the save.

Offensively, the game only saw 10 hits total with the Jets getting 6 of them.  Adam Nelubowich ended the game going 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Mark Clauson ended the game going 2 for 3 with a game winning RBI double, Lionel Morrill was 1 for 2 with a double.

The tournament victory extends the streak of tournament titles – 4 tournaments over the last 2 years and 2 tournament titles.

Mark Clauson ended the game as the MVP.

Brandon Petite, Dale Anderson, Lionel Morrill, and JC Paquin will be departing to the Dominican Republic with the Canadian National Junior Team on Tuesday night.  The entire VAB is very proud of their accomplishments and wish them all the sucess.  They will miss the remainder of the season.

The tournament title pushes the Jets record to 30-5.  Next action is the Tommy Talliff Tournament in Great Falls, Montana beginning at 6 pm on Friday vs the Great Falls Stallions.

Jets advance to Tournament Final!

The VAB Jets won their last 3 games of their 2nd Annual Invitational Tournament presented by Haven Agencies by scores of 12-0 over Okotoks Jr. Dawgs, 3-0 over the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs, and 8-6 over the Great Falls Electrics.  The Okotoks Jr. Dawgs are now 0-3 in the tournament, Lethbridge Spitz Elks are 0-3, Medicine Hat 2-1, Great Falls 2-1.  The winner of the Medicine Hat/Great Falls game will advance to the play the Jets at 4:00 pm Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Vavra, Steven Inch, and Adam Nelubowich have been the game MVP’s.

 

Jets beat the Lethbridge Elks to open 2nd Annual Tournament!

The VAB won a close game vs the Lethbridge Spitz Elks by a score of 4-2. 

The game changing play was a 5-4-3 triple play turned with the score tied at 2 in the top of the 6th inning.  With runners on 1st and 2nd and nobody out the Jets induced the triple play.

On the mound Austin Cooper got the win going 6 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, 0 BB’s and 6 K’s.  JC Paquin got the save going 1 inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s and striking out 3. 

Offensively, the Jets were led by Daniel Worb who was 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.  Josh Stephenson was also 1 for 3 with a double.

Daniel Worb was the game MVP for the Jets.

Next action is Friday night at 7 pm vs the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs.

Jets finish off the weekend sweep of the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs at Seaman Stadium!

After defeating the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs – Black yesturday in Vauxhall the Jets finished off the weekend sweep of the Okotoks Jr. Dawgs – Red today in Okotoks at beautiful Seaman Stadium by scores of 9-0 and 6-0. 

In Game 1, Steven Inch got the win on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BB’s, with 7 K’s.  Jamin Heller threw the final 3 innings allowing 2 hits, allowing 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Lionel Morrill who was 2 for 5 with a SB and RBI, Tanner Craswell was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and a SB, JC Paquin was 1 for 2 with a double and RBI, Tyson Denham was 2 for 2, Dale Anderson was 1 for 1, and Colin Amendt was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

Game 2 saw Tyler Vavra get the win on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BB’s, with 7 K’s, JC Paquin threw 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 1 K, and Cole Stober threw the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 BB’s, and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tanner Craswell was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Adam Nelubowich was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Dale Anderson who was 1 for 2, and Jamin Heller who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, and 2 RBI’s. 

The wins pushes the Jets record to 24-5.  Next action is the 2nd Annual Jets Invitational Tournament presented by Haven Agencies on Thursday at 7 pm vs. the Lethbridge Elks.
