Jets score late to win the BOW over the Okotoks Dawgs!

Kamloops, BC – 

Championship Saturday in Kamloops featured 2 semi final match ups between the Jets and the North Shore Twins as well as Okotoks Dawgs vs the Langley Blaze.  The Dawgs beat the Blaze in extra innings while the Jets beat the Twins 4-1 in the semi final.

Wesley Moore started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 4 K’s to earn the victory.  Zach Newman earned the save going 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Victor Cerny who was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Matt Rath was 2 for 3.  Brett Mercier was 1 for 2.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 and owen Harms was 1 for 3.  Damiano Palmegiani was 0 for 1 with an RBI but also 3 HBP’s.

The semi final victor earned a birth in the final vs Okotoks Dawgs.  The game was knotted at 0-0 until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Jets scored 4 runs to earn our 3rd BOW Championship (2009, 2015, 2017).  Jaden Griffin got the start going  4 1/3 solid innings allowing 0 hits, 5 BB’s with 3 K’s.  Griffin developed a blister when Hawkins entered the game with a 2-1 count and runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out.  Hawkins entered the game striking out 2 batters to finish off the inning and earning the victory going 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits with 6 K’s and 0 BB’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by a pitch hit sacrifice fly by Jared Binsfeld which went on to be the winning run.  Owen Harms who was 1 for 2 with a double.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 2.  Matt Rath continued a great Championship Saturday with a 2 for 3 effort and an RBI.

The Jets finished off the 2017 BOW scoring 36 runs and allowing just 4 runs over the 5 games.  The Jets will now enjoy Easter Sunday together at the residence in Vauxhall.  Day off Monday followed by a good week of practice will lead the Jets on another road trip to Great Falls Friday and Saturday to take on the Great Falls Chargers and Missoula Mavericks.
