Jets finish off weekend with a DH swept!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets finished off a sucessful 4 game swept of the Big Sky Juniors Sunday in front of several VIP’s for the RADF presentation by scores of 13-5 and 11-1.

Game 1 saw Steven Inch earn the victory by throwing 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 BB’s with 9 K’s. Tyson Denham threw the final 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s with 3 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Kym Barthel who was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Adam Nelubowich was 1 for 3 with a towering grand slam HR. Shane Zimmer was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Austin Cooper was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and Cole Stober was 3 for 4 with a double. Taylor Simmonds and Tyler Hayes both had 1 hit each.

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 11-1. Victor Caruso started on the mound earning the victory going 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 BB’s, with 0 K’s. Jamin Heller threw the final 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, with 2 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Adam Nelubowich who was 2 for 2 with a HR, double, and 4 RBI’s. Tyson Denham was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s. Ben Dartnell, Steven Inch, Tyler Hayes, and Kym Barthel all had 1 hit each.

The 4 game swept now pushes the VAB’s record to 17-3-1 on the fall season. Next action is Tuesday in Vauxhall vs PBA. Former VAB standouts – Jay Johnson & Alex Tufts are expected to pitch for PBA.

Jets swept DH vs Big Sky Baseball!

Vauxhall, AB –

THe VAB continued a successful fall with a swept of a DH at Jets Stadium vs Big Sky Baseball by scores of 4-0 and 4-2.  In Game 1 saw a dominate pitching performance by Cole Stober and Tyler Vavra – combining to throw a no – hitter.  Cole Stober got the win going 5 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, with 10 K’s.  Tyler Vavra threw the final 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s with 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Hayes who was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s, Shane Zimmer was 2 for 3, and Austin Cooper, Jamin Heller, Ben Dartnell, and Brant Hittel all had 1 hit each. 

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 4-2.  Taylor Simmonds started on the mound going 6 innings to earn the victory allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, 3 BB’s with 9 K’s.  Brandon Petite got the save going the final inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s, with 3 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets only managed 4 hits total – Kym Barthel, Adam Nelubowich, Steven Inch, and Brandt Hittel all had 1 hit each.

The Jets next action is tomorrow vs Big Sky at 11 am (DH).  A special ceremony will take place prior to the game with an RADF Grant presentation.

The Jets overall record is now 15-3-1.

Wong & Washburn with Team Canada in Orlando, Florida!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB wishes success to 2 current grade 12 student-athletes – Jordan Wong (RHP – Calgary, AB) and Mike Washburn (3B/1B – Fredricton, New Brunswick) in their initial tryout with the Canadian Junior National Team.  The CJNT is in Orlando, Florida Oct. 2nd – 10th competing against MLB instructional rosters at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.  This now makes 7 current and former VAB Jets athletes to tryout/make the final roster of the Canadian Junior National Team.   Tanner Craswell – 2006/2007, Dale Anderson 2007/2008, Lionel Morrill 2007/2008, JC Paquin 2007/2008, Brandon Petite 2007/2008, and now Wong & Washburn.  For more information please visit Baseball Canada – www.baseball.ca.

Jets split with Baseball Northwest Seniors!

Pullman, Washington –

The Jets split with Baseball Northwest Seniors on Sunday afternoon at Washington State University.  Game 1 saw the Jets loose 1-0 with Steven Inch starting on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 BB’s, 5 K’s, with 0 runs.  Brandon Petite took the loss going 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 4 BB’s, 2 K’s, and 1 run.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Hayes who was 1 for 4 with a double, Adam Nelubowich who was 1 for 3, Josh Stephenson who was 1 for 3 and Austin Cooper who was 2 for 3 with a double and a single. 

Game 2 saw the Jets win by a score of 7-2.  Jordan Wong got the win on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, 3 BB’s, 4 K’s, and 0 runs.  Austin Cooper threw 1 1/3 innings of relief allowing 3 BB’s, 2 K’s, 2 unearned runs, and 0 hits.  Tyler Vavra earned the save going the final 3 2/3 innings allowing 4 K’s, 1 BB, 0 hits, with 0 runs.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Hayes who was 2 for 3 with a double and a single, Mike Washburn who was 1 for 4, Jamin Heller who was 1 for 4 with a double, and Adam Nelubowich who was 1 for 4 with a double.

Next action for the Jets is this coming weekend vs Big Sky Juniors in Vauxhall starting a 1 pm (DH).
