Jets finish strong in Kelowna!

Kelowna, BC

The Jets had one of their best all around efforts on Sunday to finish off the Kelowna trip.  Game 1 saw the Jets come out on top of Okanagan College 14-0.  Adam Macko started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 1 hit with 1 BB and 6 K’s.  Kaiden Cardoso finished things off going 1 inning with 2 K’s.  Overall the Jets managed 12 hits and took advantage of OC’s 6 errors to score 14 runs.  Liam Vulcano was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 4.  Ty Penner was 1 for 4.  Dayton Peters was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Cooper Jones was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s.  John Vulcano was 1 for 3 and Shayne Campbell was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Game 2 saw the Jets come out on top over the Okanagan A’s by a score of 8-4.  Jaden Griffin started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits with 3 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Thomas Little threw 2 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 runs with 1 BB and 1 K.  John Vulcano finished things off going 1 inning allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Owen Harms who was 2 for 2.  Levi Abbott was 1 for 2.  Dayton Peters was 2 for 5.  Cooper Jones was 2 for 5 with a 3 run HR and 4 RBI’s.  Martin Vincelli-Simard was 2 for 5.  Ty Penner was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  John Vulcano was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Evan O’Toole was 1 for 3 and Josh Malainey was 3 for 3 to round out the offense.

The Jets will match up next with Prairie Baseball Academy next weekend in Lethbridge.

Jets split in Kelowna!

The VAB Jets split in Kelowna, BC vs Okanagan College losing 14-4 and winning against Okanagan A’s 13-5.  Both games were much tighter into the later innings.  The game was 5-3 thru 5 innings before ending lop sided.  In Game 1 Garrett Hawkings started going 3 innings allowing 5 hits, 5 runs with 4 BB’s and 1 K.  Matt Wiggins threw 2 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs with 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Evan O’Toole finished things off going 1 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned runs. Walks were certainly a major part in the loss. Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double.  Owen Harms was 1 for 4.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 4 with a 3 run HR.  Cooper Jones was 1 for 4 and Josh Malainey rounded out the offense going 2 for 2.

The Jets will match up with the same 2 teams at 9 am Sunday.

 

Jets split again vs PBA!

 

Vauxhall, AB – 

The Jets split again with the PBA losing game 1 by the score of 6-5 and winning game 2 14-8 to finish the weekend off 2-2.

Chase Florendine started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 3 BB’s with 1 K and allowed 0 hits.  Jared Arnold threw 2 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 4 runs with 4 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Evan O’Toole finished things off going 2/3 of an inning allowing 2 hits, 2 runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Cooper Jones who was 2 for 3 with a double.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Ty Penner was 1 for 4 with a 2 run HR.  Kaiden Cardoso was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Dayton Peters rounded out the offense going 1 for 2.

Matt Wiggins started game 2 going 3 1/3 innings allowing 8 hit, 8 runs with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s for the no decision.  Reece Keller earned the victory going 1 2/3 innings allowing 2 BB’s with 1 K.  Kaiden Cardoso closed things out going 2 innings with 4 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Owen Harms who was 1 for 5 with 2 RBI’s.  Damiano Palmegiani was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Levi Abbott was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Martin Vincelli-Simard was 1 for 3 with a solo HR.  Ty Penner was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Cooper Jones was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Liam Vulcano was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jets split vs PBA on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Jets!

The VAB Jets split with the PBA losing by a score of 10-6 in game 1 and winning 6-2 in game 2 for the split.

Garrett Hawkins started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Thomas Little went 2 innings having tough luck allowing 5 hits, 9 runs, 0 earned run with 2 BB’s and 4 K’s.  Cooper Jones finished things off going 1 inning allowing 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Owen Harms who was 1 for 1 with a solo HR and 3 BB’s.  John Vulcano was 2 for 4 with a double.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 4 with a double.  Ty Penner was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Dayton Peters was 3 for 3 with 3 doubles and an RBI.  Shayne Campbell also pitched in with a couple of RBI’s.

Jets start the fall with fast start!

The VAB Jets got off to a good start in 2017/2018 with a 12-4 victory over the PBA.  Garrett Hawkins started on the mound going 1 clean inning.  Thomas Little threw 1 inning allowing 2 hits and 1 run.  Adam Macko threw a clean inning with 2 K’s.  Chase Florendine threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run with 1 BB.  Reese Keller threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 run and 1 BB.  Matt Wiggins threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run with 2 BB’s.  Jaden Griffin threw 1 inning allowing 2 hits with 3 K’s.  Kaiden Cardoso rounded things out on the mound throwing 1 clean inning.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Owen Harms was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Damiano Palmegiani was 2 for 5 with a 2 run HR and 3 RBI’s.  Martin Vincelli-Simard was 2 for 3.  Ty Penner was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s . John Vulcano was 3 for 3.  Cooper Jones was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Evan O’Toole was 1 for 2 and Josh Malainey was 1 for 3 to round out the 17 hit attack.

The Jets will match up again on Saturday against the PBA with a 12 noon DH scheduled.

6th Annual Celebration of Achievement!

 Vauxhall, AB – 


It has became a tradition of the Jets to celebrate special achievements throughout the 2016/2017 season.  A great meal with several presentations and awards was highlighted by the Pennies for K’s fundraising presentation.  The Kitagawa’s presented a cheque matching donations and topping it up with a golf tournament donation.   Special thanks to Brian and Susan Van Uden and Yukio and Barbara Kitagawa for providing dinner.

 

2017 was a tremendous success both on and off the field.  The Jets finished the spring with a 31-10 record, 3 Tournament Championships (including the 2017 BOW), 2nd place finish and a 3rd place finish.  All 9 graduating seniors are set to move onto college baseball programs (including 4 to NCAA Division 1 programs) and 5 Jets spent time throughout the year with the Canadian Junior National Team (currently 4 Jets are still with the CJNT).  Please see below all the award winners from last night:

Some things are bigger than baseball!

Lethbridge, AB – 

It is the 6th Annual TCMM Memorial Baseball game vs the Lethbridge Bulls for the Jets.  It is time to remember all who’s lives were tragically taken in December of 2011.  The game was scoreless heading into the 3rd inning when the Bulls scored 2 runs leading to a 3-0 final.

Wesley Moore, Zach Newman, Ben Erwin and Jaden Griffen combined to hold the Bulls to hold the Bulls to 5 hits.

Cooper Jones, Jared Binsfeld and Owen Harms combined to provide the Jets with 4 hits.

The loss ends the Jets season and finish with a 31-11 record including 3 Tournament Championships.

Jets take 2 in Missoula to stay alive!

Missoula, MT –

The Jets came out ready to play against the CSA Lumberman.  It started on the mound with Adam Macko getting the starting going a complete game going 7 innings allowing 3 hits with 3 BB’s and 14 K’s on 96 pitches.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Brett Mercier was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Ty Penner was 1 for 3 with a solo HR.  Owen Harms was 1 for 3 and Matt Rath rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Game 2 saw the Jets score 5 runs in the 1st inning and 2 runs in the 2nd cruising to an 8-2 victory.  Ben Erwin was also dominant on the mound going a complete game going 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 2 BB’s and 7 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets had 8 players contribute with base hits.  Liam Vulcano was 1 for 4.  Jared Binsfeld was 2 for 4.  Brett Mercier was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Cooper Jones was 2 for 4 with a double and a triple and an RBI.  Dayton Peters was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Ty Penner was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Kaiden Cardoso was 1 for 3 and Matt Rath was 1 for 3 to round out the offense.

The Jets now play tomorrow at 12:30 pm vs Helena.

Jets dump the opener in Missoula!

Missoula, MT – 

The Jets came out flat and couldn’t recover scoring 4 runs in 7th falling 6-4 to the Great Falls Chargers.

Zach Newman started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 earned run with 3 BB’s and 1 K.  Connor Green threw the final 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 unearned runs with 1 K.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 1 for 4.  Cooper Jones was 1 for 4.  Brett Mercier was 1 for 3.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 4.  Ty Penner was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Dayton Peters was 2 for 3.  Matt Rath rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

The Jets next action is Sunday at 12:30 pm vs Coeur d Alene, Idaho Lumberman.

Jets win the 11th Annual Haven Agencies Tournament!

Vauxhall, AB – 

The Jets combined for a 5 inning no hitter while the offense managed 13 hits and 17 RBI’s in the 17-2 defeat of the Lethbridge Elks.

Garrett Hawkins started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 unearned runs with 9 K’s and 2 BB’s.  Zach Newman finished things off going the final inning with 2 K’s to combine for a no hitter.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Liam Vulcano who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Cooper Jones was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Brett Mercier was 3 for 3 with a 3 run line drive HR and 4 total RBI’s.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Ty Penner was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Dayton Peters was 2 for 3 and Matt Rath rounded out the offense going 1 for 2 with 3 RBI’s.
