Jets continue Vegas trip with another victory!

The Jets scored in every inning cruising to a 10-0 victory over Alta, Utah.  Brandon Hatley started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 BB’s with 7 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets spread the offense out collecting 10 hits.  Matt Rath was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 3 for 3 with a double, triple and an RBI.  Tyler Wood was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Spencer Rankin was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Liam Vulcano rounded out the offense going 1 for 1 with 3 RBI’s.

The Jets continue with a match up vs Bishop Gorman Friday night at 7 pm @ UNLV.

Jets open the Bishop Gorman Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Carsen, NV

Carsen Perkins started on the mound striking out the first 2 hitters of the game and the Jets scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to set the tone.  Final score Jets 5 Carsen, NV 1.  Perkins went 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 unearned run with 3 BB’s and 9 K’s.  Jalen Lane finished things off going 2 innings allowing 2 hits with 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Offensiely, the Jets were led by Matt Rath who was 1 for 3.  Jordan Malainey was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI’s to round out the offense.

The Jets play next tomorrow vs Alta, Utah at 1 pm @ Bishop Gorman HS.

Jets open up in Las Vegas with a convincing victory!

The Jets played an exhibition game vs O’Gorman HS out of South Dakota before starting the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

The Jets got out to an early lead and at one point in the game holding an 18-3 lead before settling with an 18-9 score.  David Richards started on the mound going 3 solid innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned run with 2 K’s and no walks.  Conner Green thru 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Garrett Nicholson finished things off allowing 1 hit, 2 earned runs with 5 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by a huge day from Shawn Grandmont going 3 for 5 with 2 HR’s and 6 RBI’s.  Matt Rath was 3 for 3 with an RBI.  Jordan Malainey was 1 for 3 with a double.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 5.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Tyler Wood was 2 for 2.  Damiano Palmegiani was 1 for 2 with a triple.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 with an RBI to round out the offense.

Next action for the Jets is tomorrow at 10:30 am vs Carsen, NV at 10:30 am @ Bishop Gorman HS.

Game 1 vs Twin Falls HS was a great ball game with the Jets coming out on top in extra innings 3-2.  Brandon Hatley started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs with 3 BB’s and  K’s.  Jalen Lane earned the victory with 3 2/3 innings allowing 0 hits with 2 BB’s and 5 K’s (including striking out the side in the bottom of the 8th with bases loaded).  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Dray who was 1 for 3 with a double.  Victor Cerny was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Spencer Rankin was 2 for 4 with a double.  Tyler Wood was 1 for 4 and Liam Vulcano was 1 for 4.

Game 2 vs Hillcrest HS was a tight ball game until the 6th when Hillcrest scored 5 runs cruising to an 8-1 victory.  Bryce Fraser started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs with 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Garrett Nicholson finished things off allowing 2 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets only strike out 1 time but only managed 5 hits with a lot of soft contact.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 3 with a double.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 3.  Jordan Malainey was 2 for 3 and Tyler Wood was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Next action for the Jets is Wednesday March 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jets split on day 1 in Idaho!

Pocatello, Idaho –

The VAB opened their first major road trip of season in Pocatello, Idaho. Game 1 saw the Jets take on Highland HS.  The game was a low scoring affair with the Jets allowing 4 unearned runs falling by a final score of 4-1.  Ben Erwin started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 unearned runs with 2 BB’s and 4 K’S.  Conner Green threw the final inning allowing 2 hits, 2 unearned runs with 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Matt Rath who was 1 for 4.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 3.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 3.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 and Liam Vulcano rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

Game 2 saw the Jets have 2 – 4 run innings winning by a final score of 9-2 over Pocatello HS.  KJ Moreno started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 BB and 3 K’s.  David Richards finished things off going 3 innings allowing 1 hit with 3 BB’s and 4 K’s  Offensively, the Jets were led by Matt Rath who was 1 for 5 with an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 4.  Victory Cerny was 1 for 5.  Shawn Grandmont was 1 for 3.  Damiano Palmegiani was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s.

Next action for the Jets is Saturday with a DH at Twin Falls HS – 10:30 am start.  Practice tomorrow is at 1 pm. Pocy 2016

Jets offense comes alive in 16-7 victory!

The Jets finished off the final game vs PBA JV in the pre season with a 16-7 victory.  After 7 games to open the season vs PBA JV the Jets will finally travel to southern Idaho for a 4 game series.

Jalen Lane started on the mound going 4 innings allowing 5 hits on 2 runs, 1 earned run with 2 K’s.  Connor Green made his spring debut going 2/3 of an inning and Brandon Hatley finished things off going 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run with 2 K’s and 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Matt Rath who was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBI’s.  Shawn Grandmont was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Jordan Malainey was 4 for 5 with an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.  Damiano Palmegiani was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Spencer Rankin was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Jared Binsfeld was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Liam Vulcano was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

The Jets will travel to Pocatello Idaho and Twin Falls Idaho for 4 games throughout the week.

2 tough losses for the Jets!

Lethbridge, AB – 

The Jets found themselves take a 3-0 lead with 1 out in the 1st inning and slowing saw the Dawgs chip away.  The Dawgs scored 2 unearned runs in the 7th to walk off on the Jets 6-5.  Garrett Nicholson started and threw 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 2 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Ben Erwin took the loss going 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jordan Malainey who was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Jared Binsfeld rounded out the offense going 1 for 2 with a double.

Game 2 saw the Jets fall behind 4-0 after 2 innings and couldn’t find away to claw all the way back falling 4-2.  David Richards started going 3 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs.  Bryce Fraser threw 2 innings allowing 1 BB with 1 K.  KJ Moreno finished things off going 1 inning with 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Matt Rath who was 3 for 4. Jordan Malainey was 1 for 3.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 3.  Victor Cerny was 1 for 4.  Damiano Palmegiani was was 3 for 4 with 2 triples and 2 RBI’s and Tyler Wood rounded out the offense going 1 for 4.  Next action is tomorrow in Lethbridge vs PBA at 11:30 am.

Jets take two from PBA JV in second weekend of the spring!

Despite threatening  pregame rain, the Jets were able to take two from the PBA JV in their second week of action this spring.  Game one at Nolan Yard saw the Jets get off to a good start by putting up a combined 7 runs in the first three innings.  The Jets lead held as they coasted to a 10-5 victory.  A number of Jets contributed but the offence was lead by Matt Rath who scored 3 runs on 2 hits and added a stolen base to a solid game. Jordan Drey was the driving force in the 4 run second inning when he hit his second HR of the spring, collecting 3 RBIs and 2 runs himself. Jordan Malainey also had a big game going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored himself and 2 stollen bases. Victor Cerny topped the multi-hit players with two singles and a double in four at bats.   Shawn Grandmont had a double and two stolen bases while Brett Resch beat out an infield single.  On the mound, Josh Burgmann faced the minimum in his two innings of work giving up one hit who Cerny gunned out at second, no walks and recording one strikeout.  Wesley Moore relieved Burgamann for the next two innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 hit batsmen.  Garrett Nicholson threw the next 1.1 surrendering 2 runs, 1 of which was earned, on 2 hits a walk and recorded 1 K.  Ben Erwin came on in relief and threw a solid 1.2 only facing 4 clean batters while punching one of them out. In the end, the Jets scored 10 on 11 hits with only 1 error while the Dawgs scored 5 on 6 hits and 5 errors.

Game 2 needed an extra inning to settle a back and fourth contest with the Jets edging the Dawgs 9-7.  The Jets were held off the board through the first 5 innings before putting up 9 runs in the remaining 3.   Jordan Malainey had another strong contest going 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a stollen base. Demiano Palmegiani went 2 for 4 including a big RBI single that pushed the Jets ahead of the Dawgs for the first time all game in the sixth. He finished with 3 RBIs, a walk and a stolen base.  Jordan Drey, DH Victor Cerny, Jared Binsfield, Spencer Rankin and Shawn Grandmount all had a single a piece, most notably Dreys’ single that scored Liam Vulcano to add an insurance run in the top of the 8th to make the score 9-7.  On the defensive side, Carson Perkins set the tone by striking out 3 in his two innings of work.  He held the Dawgs off the pillows outside of two walks in the second.  David Richards had a nice bounce back weekend going 1.2 with one hit, a walk, and 2 unearned runs.  Bryce Fraser took over for Richards, also only allowing 2 unearned runs and a walk on two hits while recording one punch out. Brandon Hatley threw the 6th, giving up 1 unearned run on one walk, no hits and two strikeouts.  Jalen Lane sniped the win throwing the final frame plus the needed extra, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and 2 strikeouts.  The final box line had the Jets recording 9 runs on 10 hits with 5 errors while the Dawgs put up 7 on five hits and 3 errors of their own.

Next Action is Saturday the 12th in Lethbridge again vs PBA.  Games begin at 1:00pm
