Jets finish off tournament with a convincing victory!

Okotoks, AB – 

The Jets found themselves down 2-0 after 2 complete innings and exploded for 6 runs in the 3rd and 7 in the 7th to cruise to a 14-3 victory over Team SK.  Team SK came out aggressively early in the game dictating the tempo on both sides of the ball until the Jets responded on a bitterly cold day in Okotoks.

Brandon Hatley started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 earned runs with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Carsen Perkins threw 2 innings in relief with 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Brody Burnett threw 1 inning of relief allowing 1 hit, 1 run with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.  Jalen Lane finished things off going 1 inning with 1 K.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Nolan Rattai who was 3 for 5 with a double, triple and 3 RBI’s.  Tyler Scott was 1 for 2 with an RBI.  Blake Gallegher was 3 for 5 with a triple, double and 4 RBI’s.  Luxon Glor was 2 for 3  Jordan Malainey was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Dan McDougal was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.  Sean Robbins rounded out the offense going 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

Jets split on day 2 of the fall tournament!

The VAB Jets showed some very positive signs of improvements in several areas on a very cool and wet Saturday.

Game 1 saw the Jets come out quickly and never looked back cruising to an 11-1 victory over the University of Calgary.  Josh Burgmann threw well getting the win going 3 innings scattering 6 hits with 1 unearned run with 4 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Bryce Fraser threw 2 good innings in relief allowing 0 hits with 2 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Nolan Rattai who was 3 for 3 with a triple.  Tyler Scott was 1 for 4.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Blake Gallegher was 1 for 3.  Luxon Glor was 1 for 2 with RBI.  Ben Komonosky was 1 for 4.  Zack Kunkel was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s.  Geordie McDougal rounded out the offense going 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Game 2 saw the Jets once again make errors in the infield costing a couple unearned runs losing 4-2 to Okotoks.  Brady Moxham started and threw the ball well going 3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned run with 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Reily O’Rourke was very good in relief throwing 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs with 4 K’s.  KJ Moreno was solid in the final inning allowing 1 unearned run.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Nolan Rattai who was 1 for 2 with a double.  Tyler Scott was 1 for 3.  Blake Gallegher was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Zack Kunkel was 1 for 3.  Jordan Malainey was 2 for 3 to round out the offense.

Next action for the Jets is tomorrow morning at 10 am vs Team SK.

Late inning errors cost Jets vs PBA!

Okotoks, AB – 

The VAB Jets found themselves in a good ball game into the 6th inning with the score 3-2 before giving up 5 runs to lose 8-2.  Jared Kennedy started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs with 5 BB’s and 7 K’s.  Jake Cook threw 2  innings in relief allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run with 1 BB.  Logan Cameron finished things off going 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 5 runs with only 1 earned run 2 BB’s and 2 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Scott who was 1 for 4.  Jordan Dray was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.  Ben Komonosky was 2 for 3 with a double.  Zack Kunkel was 1 for 3.

A collection of 4 costly errors and some timely 2 out PBA hits was the story late in the ball game.  The Jets look to regroup with a DH Saturday.

Jets send 17 players to T12 in Toronto

The VAB Jets are pleased to announce that 17 current and 3 former Jets will be attending the Tournament 12 at the Rogers Center in Toronto September 15 -20th.  T12 is hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays and New Era is quickly becoming the signature baseball event for the top Prospects in Canada.  The tournament is named after Blue Jay great and HOF Robbie Alomar.

Learning experience for the Jets!

Vauxhall, AB –  The day started off well for the Jets loading the bases in the bottom of the 1st with no one out.  A couple of K’s followed by some errors in the 3rd lead to the Jets being down 12-1 after 3 innings to the Dawgs.  Final score 13-6.  Game 2 was much of the same as the Dawgs climbed out to a 9-1 lead after 3 innings.  Final score 10-5.  A lack luster effort on several fronts and a well played day from the Dawgs lead to the lopsided scores.

Game 1 saw Brady Moxham start and was dominate through 2 innings but had a tough 3rd inning.  Overall going 3 innings allowing 5 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs with 3 K’s.  Jake Cooked struggled in the 4th allowing 3 hits with 3 BB’s, 1 K while allowing 4 runs.  Carsen Perkins threw the ball well in relief going 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 1 K.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Scott who was 1 for 4.  Zach Kunkel was 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Sean Robbins was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw Reilly O’Rourke threw the ball well early but struggled in the 3rd as well going 2 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits, 9 runs, 7 earned runs with 3 BB’s and 1 K.  Branden Hately threw very well in relief going 2 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 1 BB and 4 K’s.  Brody Burnett threw well in relief going 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 BB with 2 K’s.

Offensively, the Jets were led by a big game from Ben Komonosky who was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and an RBI.  Jordan Dray had a good game going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 4.  Zach Kunkel was 1 for 4 with an RBI and Dan McDougall was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Over the next week the team will split up with several guys going to the T12 in Toronto with others going to the Lethbridge to play with PBA

Game 1 saw Josh Burgmann started on the mound and was dominate going 3 innings allowing 0 hits, 1 BB with 6 K’s.  Bryce Fraser battled through 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 4 BB’s with 2 K’s.  KJ Moreno finished things off going 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run.  Offensively the Jets took advantage of Okotoks BB’s with only 2 hits Nolan Rattai was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Jordan Dray was 1 for 2 with an RBI. The Jets opened day 2 of the fall season on a beautiful fall day with a convincing 20-0 victory over St. Fx Academy.  The Jets outhit the FX 17-3.  Reilly O’Rourke started on the mound going 3 very efficient innings allowing 0 hits with 1 K.  KJ Moreno threw 1 solid inning allowing 2 hits with 1 K.  Jalen Lane finished things off with a quick 5th inning allowing 1 hit.

Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Scott who was 3 for 6 with 2 RBI’s.  Blake Gallegher was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Luxon Glor was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Zach Kunkel was 4 for 5 with 2 triples and 4 RBI’s.  Dan McDougall was 1 for 3 with a double.  Brett Resch was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s.  Sean Robbins rounded out the big offensive game going 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw the Jets jump out to an early 7-2 lead before falling 12-8 to PBA.  One tough inning saw the Jets give up 8 runs in the 4th in an otherwise well played game.  Jared Kennedy started on the mound going 3 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 4 K’s.  Logan Cameron threw 2/3 of an inning allowing 4 hits allowing 3 BB’s with 1 K.  Brody Burnett threw 2 innings allowing 2 hits with 2 runs, 1 earned run with 1 BB and 1 K.  Blake Gallegher finished things off throwing 1/3 of an inning with 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Tyler Scott who was 1 for 1 with 3 BB’s.  Blake Gallegher was 1 for 3.  Jordan Malainey was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s.  Brett Resch was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s.  Sean Robbins rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI’s.

Lethbridge, AB – The VAB Jets opened the fall season with a couple of strong performances.  Game 1 saw the Jets beat PBA by a score of 10-5.  Josh Burgmann started on the mound going 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs with 2 BB’s and 3 K’s.  Branden Hately earned the victory going 2 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits 1 run with 1 BB and 1 K.  Bryce Fraser finished things off going 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, with 2 BB’s and 2 K’s. Offensively, the Jets were led by Nolan Rattai who was 2 for 4.  Tyler Scott was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and 3 SB’s.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Ben Komonosky was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Zach Kunkel was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Jordan Malainey was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Brett Resch was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Sean Robbins rounded out the offense going 2 for 4 with a HR and a double. Offensively, the Jets were led by Nolan Rattai who was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Jordan Dray was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  Blake Gallagher was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Sean Robbins rounded out the offense going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.
