Jets pull out a late game victory over Medicine Hat!

Vauxhall, AB – 

A well pitched and defensive game was blown open in the 8th inning by the Jets to pull out a 7-1 victory.  The Monarchs led from the 4th inning on 1-0 until a few BB’s and clutch hitting broke the game open.

Nelson Quark started on the mound going 5 innings allowing 2 hit, 1 unearned run with 6 Ks and 0 BB’s.  Pat Machibroda had his best outing of the season going 2 innings allowing 2 hits with 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Luc Hebert finished things off with the victory going 2 innings allowing 1 BB and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 4 with 1 run scored.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Nolan Bumstead led the way going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 13-4-2 overall.  Next action is VHS Graduation weekend vs Badlands Academy at 12 noon (DH) on Saturday and 12 noon (DH) vs Great Falls Chargers on Sunday.

Congrats to all the grade 12 Jets on their graduation.

Jets salvage a split in Great Falls!

Great Falls, Montana – 

The VAB managed to salvage a split in Great Falls, Montana winning game 2 over Missoula 13-8 after dropping the opener 4-3 to Great Falls.

Game 1 saw Ben Onyshko start on the mound earning the no-decision going 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run with 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Jesse Borden took the loss throwing 2 good innings allowing 3 hit, 2 run with 1 BB and 2 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Jose Calderon who was 2 for 5.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 4.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a solo HR.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 1 with 3 BB’.s  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Brayden Resch rounded out the offense going 2 for 3.

Game 2 saw the Jets going down 8-3 after 6 innings before putting up 10 runs in the top of the 7th to earn the victory over the Missoula Mavericks.  Brandon Radmacher started and went 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs with 3 BB’s and 2 K’s.  JP Stevenson threw 3 innings of relief allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs with 3 K’s and 1 BB.  Nick Stobbe earned the victory in one of his best outings as a Jet going 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Nolan Rattai was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Treyton Grant was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and Brett Harrison rounded out the offense going 2 for 2.

The Jets will now play at home tomorrow vs Medicine Hat Monarchs at 1pm.

The Jets swept a DH from the Edmonton Cardinals by scores of 16-2 and 6-1.  Game 1 saw JP Stevenson start on the mound going 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 4 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Nathan Haroldson threw 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Pat Machibroda finished things off going 1 inning allowing 2 hits, 1 run with 2 BB’s and 1 K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Justin Clarkson who was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.  Brett Harrison rounded out the offense going 2 for 2 with 4 runs scored.

In the bottom of the 6th inning the game was called due to rain.  Game 2 was played in a shorten 5 innings due to snow and strong winds.

Jesse Borden started going 2 innings with 2 K’s.  Brandon Radmacher threw 1 inning with a 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Nelson Quark threw 1 inning allowing 1 BB and 3 K’s and Nick Stobbe finished things off with 1 inning allowing 1 BB and 3 K’s.  Offensively, Jager Toffan, Anthony McKinley and Braden Resch each collected hits.  Justin Clarkson chipped in with 2 RBI’s.

The victory pushes the Jets record to 11 – 3 – 2 overall.  Next action is a schedule change – the Jets will travel to Great Falls, Montana.  Saturday April 27th 10 am vs Great Falls and 1 pm vs Missoula at Don Olsen Field.  Sunday schedule will be announced this coming week.

 

Jets split with PBA at home!

Vauxhall, AB –

The VAB Jets split a DH with PBA JV winning game 1 8-1 and losing game 2 4-3.

Game 1 saw Luc Hebert throw a complete game on 77 pitches.  Hebert allowed 1 unearned run in the 7th inning, 4 hits with 8 K’s and 0 BB’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 2.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 3 with a triple.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 4.  Nolan Rattai was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 3 with a solo HR.  Mike Holmes rounded out the offense going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

Game 2 saw Nelson Quark start and throw 4 2/3 solid innings 0 hit, 1 run with 2 BB’s and 6 K’s.  Pat Machibroda threw 1 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 3 runs with only 1 earned and 4 BB’s.  Nick Stobbe finished things allowing for 2/3 of an inning.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 4.  Justin Clarkson was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 4.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 4 to round out the offense.

The Jets record is now 9-3-2 overall.  Next action is next Saturday and Sunday against the Edmonton Cardinals.  DH’s both days.  The Jets will still be missing Thibideau, Onyshko and Bumstead who are away with the Junior National Team in Florida.

 

Jets win and tie PBA JV

The VAB Jets had a great day offensively and really struggled on the mound in a 12-3 victory.  Brandon Radmacher started game 1 going 2 innings allowing  1 hit, 3 runs, 4 BB’s and 3 K’s.  JP Stevenson going the win going 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB’s with 5 K’s.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 2 for 3 with a double.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 3 with a HR and 4 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a run scored and RBI.  Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 1 for 3 with a HR.  Nolan Rattai and Joel Mazukewich each had a double.

Game 2 saw the Jets tie 14-14.  5 Jets pitchers combined for 16 BB’s.  Joel Mazukewich was 3 for 4.  Justin Clarkson was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI’s.  Anthony McKinley was 2 for 3.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 3.  Nolan Rattai was 2 for 3.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 4 with a 3 run HR.  Mike Holmes was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Jets lose a heartbreaker in semi and win another!

Kamloops, BC –

The semi final matchup with Okotoks took a sudden turn in the 7th inning.  The Jets were leading 3-0 after 6 innings and gave up 4 runs in the 7th.  The Jets then loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th but couldn’t push anyone across.

Luc Hebert started the semi final pitching into the 7th inning allowing 6 hits, 3 runs with 7 K’s and 0 BB.  Jesse Borden threw a great final inning with 1 hit and 1 run and a K.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Chris Thibideau who was 1 for 3 with a double.  Justin Clarkson was 3 for 4 with a run scored.  Jager Toffan was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.  Brayden Resch was 2 for 3 with a RBI.  Treyton Grant rounded out the offense going 1 for 3.

The Jets had plenty of pitching left so played the loser of the other semi final game.  The Jets come out on top by a score of 10-0 over the Parksville Royals.  Nelson Quark threw 3 innings for the win allowing 1 hit, 1 BB with 3 K’s.  Pat Machibroda closed things out going 2 innings allowing 1 hit with 1 BB.  Offensively, the Jets were led by Joel Mazurkewich who was 1 for 3 with a run scored.  Justin Clarkson was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Nolan Bumstead was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored.  Nolan Rattai was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Treyton Grant was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Jose Calderon was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Brett Harrison 1 for 2.  Mike Holmes was 1 for 2.  Brayden Resch was 1 for 1 with a double.

The Jets would like to wish 3 current players who will be leaving to Orlando, Florida to tryout for Team Canada on Thursday.  Nolan Bumstead, Chris Thibideau and Ben Onyshko (who was added after his great start on Friday) will all travel south for 10 days to compete against several professional teams.  Good luck fellas!

Jets continue their winning ways at BOW!

Kamloops, BC –

The Jets came out hitting and a great pitching performance by Ben Onyshko led to a 8-0 victory over the North Shore Twins.  Ben Onyshko threw 5 innings allowing 1 hit with 1 BB and 8 K’s for the victory.  Offensively, Chris Thibideau was 3 for 4 with a HR and 4 RBI’s.  Jager Toffan was 1 for 3 with a double.  Nolan Bumstead was 1 for 2 with a double.  Brayden Resch and Jose Calderon added 1 hit each.  Joel Mazurkewich was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Brett Harrison was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Nolan Rattai rounded out the offense going 1 for 1 with a double and an RBI.

The victory puts the Jets in the semi final as the #1 seed against an opponent to be determined after the completion of the round robin games.

Jets open the BOW with 2 victories!
