Today was a better day overall for the Academy. The team came out very flat in the morning game vs PBA and was not able to climb out of a 9 to 0 hole. The final score ended up 9 to 6 and we fought back pretty good considering the older competition. Tyson Denham pitched very well with 4 shutout inning allowing only 3 hits, 2 K’s and 2 BB’s. Daniel Worb also through a scoreless inning in relief. Offensively, we were let by Mark Clauson who was 2 for 4 with a single and double. Jean Guy Bilodeau also swung the bat very well going 2 for 3 with a double and single.
In game 2 vs the U of C, the VAB came out with more jump. Cole Stober pitched fairly well but, allowed 6 BB’s and 4 earned runs in 4 innings to earn the no decision. Daniel Worb took the loss on the mound. Offensively, Lionel Morrill was 2 for 3 with a double and single and 2 RBI’s. Dale Anderson was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and Daniel Worb was 1 for 4 with a triple. The game was very tight throughout as the VAB led after 5 inning by a score of 6 to 4 but, the U of C battled back and won the game in the bottom of the 7th inning.
The VAB’s home opener is next Friday night at 7 pm vs Team SK Selects.
